5103 Test Drive and Quote

I finally had a chance to drive a 5103 around. I really liked it and feel it will do all I will ask of it. What do you guys think of this quote?

You will love the 5103. I bought a 5203 at Fredericksburg equipment in August of 05 for 17,600 including a 512 loader. I bought an MX 6 there in April of 06 for a little under 2,200 as I recall. The other items I cannt speak for.

Where did you get the tooth bar? I have been looking for one--JD guys could not find one that JD makes for a loader this small.

Forgot about the trailer--bot a Big Tex 20 foot for a little over 3 grand. I think a longer trailer would be a better deal with the 5103, loader, and MX 6 if you are going to do a lot of hauling.

Something else to look into on the 5103. My dealer just told me Deere has a 500 discount deal going on until Sept. 22 or so I think on all 5000 series. Some dealers won't tell you this or haven't looked lately at the latest incentives. Have talked to two dealers, one told me about it the other didn't mention it.

That's a great quote!
IF you called every dealer in your area and badgered them until you're sure you got the absolute lowest price.
If you didn't, keep shopping.

Glad to get some feedback. I'll look into a longer trailer (maybe a 24 footer).

Not sure where they are getting the tooth bar, I'll try to find out.

unreconstructed - I talked to Fredericksburg Equip and they weren't interested in selling a 5103. Maybe I should go back and talk to someone else. Do you recommend any of the salespeople there?

That's interesting. Make sure we are talking about the same place--the one out on 87? Anyway, Sidney is the guy I bought the 5203 from--also bought an MX 6 there. I live in Midland and have a place in Dawson county (cotton country) and Menard county. I bought an MX 6 at O'Donnell for the Dawson county place--Sidney was cheaper than the dealer at O'Donnell. The quote I got in Stanton (close to Midland) for the 5103 was flat retail and did not seem they were interested. So I am surprised Fredericksburg did not want to deal. I am thinking of getting a 2320 this or next year and was going to call them in Fredericksburg to buy it. There's a dealer just outside of Marble Falls I have considered--been by there a couple of times, but never dealt with them yet.

Could be Sidney just had the 5203 on the lot and wanted to move it. Have not tried to order anything there.

Would appreciate it if you would let me know what Sidney has to say if you decide to talk to him.

That's not a bad configurator. It looks like the price I'm getting from my local dealer is competitive with the big Houston "package" guys.

I'm taking delivery of my 5103 with a 512 loader, 6ft cutter and 6ft box blade. I also got the 14.9 wide rear tires. Our local dealer (Killeen Texas) was within a few hundred dollars from everyone else and he was about the only one that would deliver to our property. I'd also be interested in where you get your toothbar as our local JD dealer said I would have to have the 522 loader.
