Thanks for the response RF33!
I have just started looking and am thinking around the first of the year. I haven't got to try the iso platform yet. If I order one, I think I would get the 5520 iso platform, looks nice. What about getting all 5 scvs, maybe do TnT? Have you seen any cylinders that would work for TnT? I am thinking about the syncro with the economy PTO option for mowing and spraying.
I have looked at a used 5410 and a 5510. 5410 had 316 hrs. Park service had it and I would say the tires were about 50%. I can't image what they did to it to wear the tires like that. I guess lots of road travel would do it or spinning the tires trying to get a good load in the loader? Had 3 rear scvs, syncro, 4wd, and 541MSL for $29,950. Just kinda shook my head at. Those were a hard 300 hrs. My previous post was looking at what a new 5420 cost compared to this one.
Looked at a 2001 5510 last night, 4wd, 16.9 30's, 3 rear scvs, joystick, syncro, rear tires looked like new and fronts where probably 75% and a 541 non leveling loader with 646hrs for $26,000. Very clean like new, one owner, young farmer, needs a bigger machine for more land. He couldn't say enough good things about the machine. No problems, worked like a champ, good strong machine, Cadillac of the utility tractors, etc. I really like it, but really want the MSL loader and more SCVs. Fair price? Also had horizontal exhaust out the back by the 3pt. seemed like I was always smelling fumes. He really liked it being out of the way for loader work.
Looking at the Neb. tractor tests it looks like the 5520 has the best torque rise of the four machines in the 5020 series and is a hare underrated by deere in hp. My thinking on the economy PTO is noise and fuel. Any thoughts? I know it is strictly light/med duty chores, no baling with it. Baling is a ways off for me, but might in the future.
On the 18.4's vs the 16.9's for rear tires, what would you suggest? I like the look of the 18's but wondered about the fronts. To prevent the fronts from rubbing the loader they adjust the steering stops, losing some of your turning radius. Is this a good compromise between traction and turning? Guess you could readjust when you take the loader off if needed.
Anything you would do different on yours?
Again, thanks for the response and anything you feel like answering.
