I've got 2 questions:

1. What's the grease fitting for that's located on the left side of the tractor about 6-8" below the the clutch grease fitting? It's kind of there by itself and there's really no where to see if the grease fitting is full.

2. When draining the the Transmission fluid the manuel says to drain it from the rear of the tractor below the PTO. There is also a drain plug on bottom of the tractor that isn't in the manuel. It's about 2' from the oil drain plug toward the rear. Does anyone know what this plug is for?

Thanks,
Scott

I have a 5500 4x4, it tells me in the manual about the two differnt plugs i do believe, i changed mind twice so far, and i do remeber taking two differnt plugs off to drain the transmission.

I am pretty sure that the lower grease fitting is for the " throw-out bearing ".
At least that is what my " 4025 " manual says. They should be very close to if not the same.

What's a throw out bearing? Also how do you know when you have out enough grease in it?

I am not a mechanic and the description may not be exactly correct. But the throw-out bearing is the bearing that spins when the clutch pedal is depressed allowing the the preasure plate to spin at engine speed while the clutch plate slows down or stops to allow shifting of the transmission. please remember that I am not a mechanic but I am pretty sure this is how it works. I would not put more than 2 or 3 squirts of quality grease in it. If you over grease it and grease is dripping all over the clutch components you can see that would probably cause the clutch to fail due to grease contamination. Take alook under the clutch area there might be a removable plate that will allow visible inspection of the area. If anyone else can correct what I have posted and make it more accurate please do so.
