5k Zero Turn Question

   / 5k Zero Turn Question #51
In general they must be a pretty good mower by the reviews but the first review caught my eye. He gives it five star rating but then says "hard to access belts" and "Engine difficult to get to" - why would he know about either of those after only two years?

I much prefer a front deck but I would say this is probably a $3k value if it is what you want.

I could tell you all about Dixie Choppers, but they are out of your price range.

They are supposed to be one of the fastest, but like some say, you don't always cut at your fastest speed.

I have used them for over 30 years, and the reliability is excellent.

I could fix any part of those mowers, even to replacing an engine in about 1 hour.

I also have two Trac Vacs that mount on the rear of the Choppers.

Read the thread below for a recent John Deere Z425 owner's experience with only 200 hours on it:0(

I have read a few/isolated bad owner experiences with the Dixie Choppers, but overall I would recommend them over a lot of other brands(like John Deere, Bad Boy and several others). I actually consider the Zee 2 series as a very good bang-for-your-buck Residential ZTR. What DC's have you owned and what do you currently have. There weren't any DC dealers in my area when I was shopping last fall or I definitely would have included them in the mix I was considering!!

I have two 60 in Choppers with Kohler 25 HP engines and two 42 in with 18 hp Kohler Magnums that need some work.

I had a fast track DC 60 in but sold it.

I would have to say that if anyone had trouble with a DC, they did not know how to use them or work on them.

I also like the gator blades for leaves.

I started out with Snapper 30's and 32's, but they could not handle hills well.

I don't know whether you're kidding, or serious, but anyway I'd disagree; 7 mph is plenty of speed for most people and I sure don't consider a 7 mph machine to be a waste of money.

Yeah,HE ONLY HAS ONE ACRE OF GRASS TO CUT.
