I've occasionally thought of getting a small dump trailer for personal use. I recently bought a 2T mini-ex (4200#) and am wondering whether a trailer that size could haul it, or if it's likely too short.

The footprint of my mini is about 4x5' (WxL) with the tracks extended. My truck is a 2020 Ranger with the tow package, which specifies 7500# max trailer weight and 750 on the tongue.

The 5x10 dumps generally seem to have a payload of around 4500-5000, but my understanding is the hard part might be balancing the trailer properly with the short length. I don't want to do anything risky.

As it stands I have zero need to move the machine, so it doesn't make sense for me to buy a separate equipment trailer (that I don't have room to store). The dump would be more useful, as I have an occasional but recurring need to move garden/landscape material and other stuff. It would just be an added plus in case I wanted to help a friend or somebody local to me.

I have a 12ft trailer and a 2t excavator. It is a very tight fit. I don’t think it would work in a 10ft without putting the bucket in front of the box on the A.

The 12ft trailer is a hawke 10k dumper.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to do that. My state (Mass.) doesn't have much of a sense of humor about that sort of thing, and if I wanted to gamble I'd book a flight to Vegas where I get free drinks when I lose.

i have a 5x10 10k dump trailer and while it could handle it, probably a bit too small for comfort unless I was just hauling down the road to the neighbors or across town.

As far as fitment, measure the mini-ex length and see if it will fit.
With a dbl. axle trailer you will be fine.
I've got the same Ranger, (2019) and the only issue is if I don't load the front heavy enough the trailer wants to push me through downhill intersections
....especially in gravel.
Get enough weight on the tongue and you shouldn't have an issue.....especially with trailer brakes.
