Local place here sells BIG breakfasts for less than I can afford to cook for, so many times I stop in there for breakfast. They sell 6 egg omelets (I get a ham and cheese), a side of home fries, and 2 pieces of toast. Generally when I have that for breakfast, I skip lunch because I'm not hungry and it holds me over until dinner time fine. When I grab a lighter breakfast at home like cereal or something, I'm always hungry by lunchtime and am seeking out a quick sandwich to grab...
Unless I'm lucky, and I mean like powerball jackpot type lucky, I've got more years behind me than ahead of me. I'm 6'2" tall and average 170 lbs (same as high school). I can still swim and run and play as hard as ever, but I devote most of my time and energies towards completing tasks these days. I agree with Sodo that your intake must equal your output. It isn't as much "what you eat" as much as "what you do" to balance out with what you eat.
Very interesting. My story somewhat different. From about 1990 to 2011 I weighed in at 200 - 210 lbs . I'. 5ft 8in. In Aug of 2011 I got a liver transplant.
In and out of hospital in 9 days. Driving in 2 weeks. I thought, whats the big deal? wasn't so bad of medical procedure. Don't get me wrong, though. It is a big deal.
I was good till January 2012. That's when I got lung problems, build up of fluid problems and wound up on dialysis. In hospital all of 2012. weight went down
to 129 lbs. on a feeding tube. Not a pretty picture.
For some unknown reason my condition improved at end 2012. Cut loose from hospital Jan 2013 on oxygen and in wheel chair. In Feb, after one year of
dialysis, I was taken off the kidney machine and lost the feeding tube. Didn't feel like eating much, but forced it down. Until one morning I had eggs and bacon.
Strictly forbidden bacon by most doctors. (because high sodium) My liver surgeon told me once, "I don't care if you eat Snickers all day, you have to build up protein
and gain weight. Once I started with a hefty breakfast then things started to improve quickly. I am now 171 lbs this morning and holding there. My cholesterol is good, so I keep up with eggs especially. My Kidneys are working at 33% as of Saturday blood test. And I'm now going to gym at least 3 days a week.
But, I didn't do it all myself.
I have been blessed. Period..
Second an organ donor made my life last a little longer. one donor can save 8 people. A number worth thinking about.
Third my family who stood behind me for a long time and made my life easier.
Fourth my surgeons ,and more so, my nurses and all the other folks at Pittsburgh UPMC Montefiore 11 north, including a certain janitor who would tell me
his golfing stories. They all contributed to my health.
All this story to say, I think high protein eggs helped me get better and at least, in my case, eggs are good and healthy.
Sorry to beat your ears with such a long boring story. But think of this as I now know both sides. It's better to be reading of some old guy
telling his long boring story, than have your own personal sickness story to tell.
Gotta Go.....Coffeeman
