this should do it if you go to MF web site you can view all there brochures.

Yes, I had read that. So does it have a clutch pedal, and when would/should you have to use it?

I dont know my next stop is the MF dealer which is right in town about 5miles from the farm we have hydraulic hoses made there all the time.

I have a feeling you will find the MF's with those trannys to be quite a few more $$$ than the JX's. Good luck in your investigating, let us know what you find out.

DYNA-4, Awsome Transmission. Power Shift 1st gear to top gear. Clutchless power shuttle, you can change the harshness of the shuttle change, declutch with the shuttle lever. Man I bought my 5435 too soon.
The clutch is used to start the tractor, after that, no need for it. You can use it like a normal clutch if you want.
I have no doubt that with a DYNA-4 it would be well over the cost of a Case. It's probably more than most, but no one can compete with that transmission in that size tractor.

You're right, it really is unique in that size tractor. Maybe the only other would be one of the other Agco lines. But between the Dyna-4 and then he says he needs a creeper you could be looking at close to $4K just in transmission options.

But with the 12-14 hours we spend on it every day all summer it might be worth
it :)

I don't think you would find much price difference between the JX and the MF Dyna 4. I didn't. I ended up going with the MF 596 which is quite a bit less $$ (I didn't need the creeper gears though) over a 5455 with the Dyna 4. The Case IH I looked at was a bit higher. JD came in at $10 grand above everyone else on comparable HP and features.

I would have thought the JXU and TLA would have been more comparable to the 5400 than the JX and TD, which are budget tractors in comparison. Judging from European prices, the 5400s are 10,000 dearer than the JXs, and that is pounds.

The 5400 looks like a nice tractor. That pale interior would end up pretty grotty on my place though. I've been wondering about the fuel consumption of these tractors. In older OECD and Nebraska tests, the naturally aspirated perkins 4.4 had a good fuel efficiency, but the turboed version seemed to be below average for some reason. Non of the brands with 4.5 litre engines seemed to be very good, however, with the Tier II - MF is claiming extraordinary g/kwh rates for the Tier III engines - hopefully that just isn't just spin.

I had a recent price quote on a Case-IH JX95 (95 engine hp) with cab, mechanical shuttle, MFWD and 2 rear remotes for 36K. Lot of tractor for the money- including cab.
