60\" Landscape Rake

A friend of mine is looking at buying a new 60" Landscape Rake with wheels. I was wondering what brands are out there. He had a Befco 60" Landscape Rake with wheels priced for $775.00. The wheels are like a 200.00 - 250.00 upgrade. I was wondering what else was out there in that size. Is that a comparable price? What other brands should he look at?

Re: 60\" Landscape Rake

See attached to view my Frontier 1172 rake/blade combo (6'). The price for the rake/blade was $935. Wheels were an extra $225 which were quoted me but which I did not purchase.

hi Bob

Is that blade something you can buy seperate, I have the same rake, didn't know there was a blade for it.

Phil...

You would have to buy the rake/blade combo. To my knowledge you can't buy the blade as an after market item and then try to attach it. I learned about this combo unit when I was at the Deere dealer and picked up the Frontier brochures. Looking through them, I noticed the combo unit. This is not something the dealer would likely even bring up when one is writing up a purchase order since many buyers already have either a blade or a rake and they are merely looking to buy the other that they don't have. I would also add the blade is designed for light to medium duty grading only. I have another blade that is heavier guage steel meant for heavy duty jobs. I bought this unit because the price wasn't too much more and I thought it would save me time when I'm in the field. Instead of heading back to the barn to change implements, I simply drop the blade down in place and I'm good to go......takes about 1 minute.

Re: 60\" Landscape Rake

I bought a 60" rake from First Choice in North Carolina last year. It is a quality product and I am very happy with it. I didn't buy the wheels at the time and am still not convinced for my use that I need them. You can try Pieter at 888-945-3102 in Wilson, NC. My rake was a 'few' hundred dollars, wheels $140 but like I said I didn't take them. I just searched and found both Carver Equipment in Dunn, NC and Sweet Farm Equipment carry them as well.

I paid $585.00 for the 60 inch Woods Estate series rake with wheels when I bought the 2200. The dealer said that it would be $625.00 if I didn't buy it when I bought the tractor.

Re: 60\" Landscape Rake

Would this type rake be what a guy needs for removing just thatch?

Re: 60\" Landscape Rake

How about leveling out a gravel path? Looks like it would be more forgiving than a box blade, especially if the tractor has no draft sensing.

Re: 60\" Landscape Rake

I just got a cheap KK 6' rake.

From what I can see it is better at leveling gravel than my box blade. Also seems better at putting a finishing touch on a dirt trail.

The box blade is superior for the heavy duty stuff though, without question. I'm real happy that I have both, as of last week... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

By the way I got 10% off at TSC and did not get the gage wheels. A guy told me to try it first without the gage wheels and see what I thought. Can always add them later if needed. From what I can see at this point I probably will not need them. I paid about $338 plus tax.

Re: 60\" Landscape Rake

Is anyone using a three point mounted rake that is good for thatch removal? When I had a smaller Ariens garden tractor I used a Agrifab dethatcher that worked very well on removal of thatch. I have yet to see anything similar for a CUT. The agrifab pulled behing the Ariens and did a good job of raking at the surface of the grass. I would like to find something similar for my B2910.
