60" MidMount Mower Deck - compatible with 4100?

Re: 60

I removed the MMM linkage from my 4100 because the sway bar (diagonal brace) was dragging on the drive shaft for the front PTO for the snow-blower. It looks like there should be space for the drive shaft, but the sway bar just slightly rubs.

Re: 60\" MidMount Mower Deck - compatible with 4100

Anyone have the actualy width of the 60" mower deck? Is it actually only 60" or is it wider? The reason I am asking is that my trailer has a 63" opening.

Re: 60\" MidMount Mower Deck - compatible with 4100

I would believe it is going to be wider. I never measured my 72", but the discharge chute sticks out almost a foot on the right. I'm just comparing to the fel bucket, which is also 72".

Re: 60

Hey, Nuru...

The 60" deck's overall width is 72.5". The 54" deck's overall width is 65.9". The measurement they use to sell these things is the actual width of the cut. I posted the rest of the specs back in one of our earlier <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=jdown&Number=95275&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=3>dialogues</A>. JD's 3PH grooming mower, model 261, has the exact same dimensions and weighs in at 390 lbs. I think it uses the same one-piece stamped 10 guage deck shell. Keep hunting...

You know you are correct, unless I remove the discharge shpot - not likely, i have a problem.

Re: 60

Uh Oh, I have to figure out how I am going to get the tractoir in the trailer and still keep the sides on the trailer - hmmm, looks like I will have to figure out something if the deck does not lift up enough to clear the sides . Rats, rats! Anyone got any ideas?

Re: 60

It's never easy, is it....Everything in your "Tractor Life" grew by 300% when you brought home that bouncing baby 4100. The word "bigger' will be in almost every converstaion you have about your tractor from this point on out. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Your choices are pretty limited now. It seems like you are going to have to deal with the trailer. I see your trailer choices as:

1) Think about upgrading your trailer to accommodate your new baby

2) Store your trailer away from your home

3) Tip it on end/side

4) Rig a simple hoist to raise it into the rafters (I've seen this done pretty simply)

3) Sell your trailer in anticipation of #1 (How often do you really use it anyway?)

4) Store it outside in a manner so as not to violate your deed restrictions and neighborhood association rules

5) Allow your <enter relative of choice> to borrow the trailer indefinately /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Seriously, what do you use/intend to use your trailer for besides a stand for your tractor?

Good luck!

Re: 60\" MidMount Mower Deck - compatible with 4100

Nuru,

On the 60" deck, the discharge guard is mounted on a hinge. Two bolts can be removed and allow it to be flipped up, narrowing the width.

The main issue I have getting mine on and off of the trailer is making sure the ramp angle is not too steep that the deck drags on the top of the ramps.

Re: 60\" MidMount Mower Deck - compatible with 4100

Nuru,

I had a similar problem with my 54" discharge chute. What I did to pull it out of the way when I park my tractor in my small shed was to drill a hole into the chute and install a grommet. I then use a handee-dandee bungee cord to pull it up and out of the way. If it were the right season, I could take a picture and show you.

Re: 60\" MidMount Mower Deck - compatible with 4100

the few times i need to trailer my 4100, i waddle down to the jd dealer and borrow theirs. [i am generally only taking it to them anyway]. i can borrow the trailer for free if i am going to them. if i have them come get the 4100 they charge a fee. [the trailer in question can haul a large car/pickup without any problems]
