Is 550 hours on a 2007 610 4by4 mule considered high hours or low hours or about average? What would be a fair price for one, it appears to be in real good shape. There are no scratches on the plastic, it is owned by a 85 year old gentleman and he bought it new. It has a windshield, a top, a towing hitch, a bed liner, and a brush guard on the front. The brush guard probably does a good job, but if I got it I would modify it some to make it do the job even better. It has 3 cab lights two under the roof and one on the dashboard. It has a piece of carpet in the floor and the floor has absolutely no scratches on the floor. The gas pedal has some paint wear on it. He said that he wanted the turn signal switch off of it as it came from an old antique car and that he had had it a long time [probably worth a lot of money]. He said that he had disconnected the horn button but left the horn button in the glove box,I don't know if it still has the horn on it or not, but I believe that is something he put on it as you could blow the horn without the key being turned on and his 4 year old grandson would blow the horn and run his battery down. He has run carpet from under the bottom of the seat and up and under the back of the seat, he said to block the wind off his back. He said the tires were the original tires that came on it and they look to be in good shape. Sorry for being so long winded, but I wanted to describe it as best as I could.

NADA says $3,900 low, and $5,100 high. Maybe add another $200-$400 for the add-ons. But I'd think 500 hrs would be a little on the high side for a 3 year old Mule. Ask when the valves were last adjusted? This is just my opinion but I would try to buy it around $3,500, and may go as high as $4,200. If he thinks that's low I would explain you can buy a brand new 610 for $7,000 which will come with a factory warranty. And even though his is in nice condition, things such as tires, brakes, belt, clutch, battery, shocks, U-joints, etc. are certainly affected by those three years and 500 hours.
I have an 05 610 and I really enjoy it. I've had no problem what so ever with it and would buy another if something happened to this one. Probably the new XT version though:D.
Anyway good luck and keep us posted how it works out.

I stopped by a kawasaki dealer and they had the 610 and was wanting about $8500 for a new one and I asked if they had any left over 09 of any kind left and they said no. I told him that I didn't want to put that much money in one, he never said that he would try to locate one for me or that he would come down on the ones that he had, he just turned around and walked away.
I know absolutely nothing about the side by sides nor how to judge by the hours. I figured that the dealership would have been more eager to talk to a potential customer, but they didn't. I had stopped there before and even went inside and at those times no one even talked to me, that was at the kawasaki dealer. I was a little more interested in the terex, but since I hadn't driven one except one time and that was a neighbor that had got one and he let me drive his.
I was never offered to try one out at the dealership, nor did they give me a sells pitch. My post was up for a couple days without a response so I figured it would drift off into oblivion, so I checked the mule out and there was one bolt missing, there was no oil leaks no seppage what so ever. The asking price fit in the price range that you gave so I don't feel too bad. I bought the mule, I figure that I will use it for a while and educate myself on these machines and pay more attention to others around here that have them and later if I like them then I may go the extra and buy a new one, if not then I won't have $10,000 sunk into it.
I don't owe anything on the mule and later if I decide to sell I believe I can recoup most of what I have in it to put on a new mule or terrex or what ever. I believe this is a more reasonable approach to buying and if later I buy a new one the local dealer won't be my dealer.

brokermike or milo have either one of you opened up the wiring trough, if so is there anything that I should be aware of before opening it up.

One more series of questions, where do you get your air filters, oil filters, oil and anything else for servicing your mule? What is the numbers and type of parts that you get to do the job? How much does it cost to get the valves adjusted? Have you done it your self and is it very hard? I have done replaced the one missing bolt, I want to check the wiring all out to see if there is anything that needs attention. If he left the horn on it I intend on taking that off, a bicycle horn is probably as loud as the horn and it don't pull any electric. I want to put a power point on it that is alive without the key being on.

Toy, congratulations on your Mule! I picked up my oil filters at a dealer. My 610 only has about 150 hours, I've changed the oil 4 times. Once at 50 hours and then once every year. There are a number of Kawasaki dealers that sell parts on-line. Also you can go to Kawasaki's website and access the parts fiche which is quite helpful. One of the best purchases would be the Kawasaki 610 service manual if you plan on doing much of your own maintenance. I wouldn't have been able to adjust the valves w/o it. BTW it's not difficult to adjust them but allow a few hours the first time. You should also have a new valve cover gasket on hand in case you damage yours removing it. I did the first service myself around 100 hours. They were borderline tight. They don't call for checking again for a while, maybe 250 or 500 hours, I can't recall.
The owners manual details how to change the differential oil and engine oil, and the type to use. (The front diff requires limited slip oil.) It also shows when any other services are due.
The only issue I had was when my wife and her friends used it over a weekend and left the choke on, eventually fouling the spark plug. New plug and convincing her to push the choke off right away and no problems since.

ANOTHER NEW MULE OWNER HERE...Just thought I'd chime in here. As with Toy, I'm a new Mule owner, and new to UTVs. I just bought a used 2008 610 Mule with 30 hours. It came with a Warn winch, top, 2"lift, upgraded tires and wheels, trailer hitch, brush guard, for $6k. I sold my tractor, a MF 135, and a golf cart to fund the Mule. It will replace both. Later I"ll add a snow plow and windshield. I'll prolly make a windshield myself. So far I"m tickled with it. I found it a bit noisy at first, but gettting used to that. Here's a pic on the last bit of snow on our property.

UTV accessories has a vinyl windshield for about 200bucks. It is the best deal I've seen because they need to be replaced about every 3-4 years, as they get scratched. It also lets you still open the hood. I'm building a roof/roof rack myself rather than going with a soft top. A roof rack is great for hauling tree stands, ladders, etc.

Have fun

Wherever you choose to get a windshield, make sure it is either polycarbonate (i.e. Lexan is one brand name) or automotive safety glass. Regular plexiglass will scratch VERY easily and will shatter into pieces, especially when cold, if you hit a tree limb or something...
