Hey All,
I apologize if this thread is out there, but I didn't see it when I was searching.

My tractor is 66 inches wide at the outside of the wheels. 38hp, 4wd, filled rears. I was thinking about a 72 inch LP rake, but am thinking I might want to get an 84 inch for when it is at a full angle...

I will be using this mostly on driveway areas with different types of gravel, not really planning on doing much in the woods with it, but I might do a little.

Thanks in advance

Your stance is just a bit wider than my 2615, and I have an 84" with gauge wheels. With the rake at full angle setting it nicely covers my tracks.

I am leaning towards this size after originally thinking a 72.

I am actually looking at a LP, I should correct that in my previous post. How do you find the 72 covering the wheels when angled?

Edit: If I go 84, they offer a more HD option in the 2684. Adds another 40lbs.

Fine on the tracks ... The extra weight is good to have keeps the rake on the ground ..

thanks for the input, I'm going to inquire on price differences, but I'm not sure it could be that much. Although if I jump up to their MD rake, it might be a bit more. We will see.

Did you look at EA rakes...

Yes I did, but two reasons for LP

1) Local dealer I like to use who will deliver for free
2) Also getting a 60 inch rotary cutter, and I like some of the features (like floating top link) on their cutters so might as well buy both from same place.

The EA rake is a little heavier than the LP and might even be a little better. I prefer the rotary from LP more though, and thats the bigger purchase.

An 84" rake at 45* is only about 60" wide. At 35* it will be about 66" wide and at 30* about 74".

An 84" unit is what I would get for your tractor, but know that at full angle it will not cover your tracks. ;)

I'm poor at math, so thanks for the concrete numbers!! I think any larger than 84" is too much for moving between areas if I do go in the woods, and any smaller will make it hard to work the driveways.

Put in an order for a 2684, so a foot longer and 80lbs heavier than my originally planned 1672.

Appreciate everyones help!

I have an 84" King Kutter rake, and I think my rears are ~70" outside to outside. If I'm running my rake angled, it's only to the first angled position, and while I'm not sure what the degree of angle is, I'm sure it's not 45 degrees. 30 or 35 maybe? I don't really care, as that angle works just fine for working (pushing) stuff off to the side. I use it mostly on my gravel driveway, and for breaking up and scattering horse apples in the pasture. Works just fine for my uses, and I'm satisfied with it.

Yeah, I think an 84 will be a good size for me, the 72 would have been a little tight. Thanks for your inputs!
