Hello all,
I just purchased a used 7265 with no manuals, so I have a few questions that I hope some of you can answer.

1) The glow plugs do not seem to be working. Does outside temperature effect the glow plugs( ie, do they only work at below a certain temp?) If not, can you give me some advice on what the problem may be.

2)Does anyone know what the Napa crossover #s for the filters are? If not, then what are the oem #s for the filters.

3)What weight motor oil does it take. I think 15W40 but not sure.

4) what is the motor oil capacity?

I will stop there. I think I could keep going for awhile but these are the most important questions for now. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks,

Kevin

Congrts on your new best friend. I hope these answers help you get started. I have spent many hours looking for crossref numbers on these filters and no luck. These are the oem #'s 10310511200 air $75.00, MM409892 fuel $11.00, 31A40-02100 oil $16.00, 19642509000 hydr $42.95, 19632558000 hydrostatic $35.95. You can find a oil filter and save 6 dollars but the rest are a well kept secret. 5 quarts of oil for engine. If it is starting glow plugs should be working (indirect injection). Check bulb. Your local dealer can order you a owners manuel. Enjoy your purchase.

Thanks for the filter #'s.
I have checked the bulb and it is fine. Should the glow plug light come on when I turn the key on? I assume that the light should come on and go off to signal that it is ready to crank. Is this correct?
Thanks,
Kevin

I have the 7260, which is the gear version of yours. Turn the key to the right one notch. (right before the starter engages). There should be a yellow light on the right side of the dash that comes on for about 3-4 seconds. Once that light goes out, you can crank the starter. Do your gauges work? There is a fuse box under the hood. You can also put a voltmeter on the switched lead and see if there is juice there with the key on.

On both my 7265 and 7360ss the glow plug lights go and off a little crazy. Sometimes the bulb doesn't light cold, sometimes it comes on when I have been using it 4 hrs. Contacted the dealer and read owners manuel and best think to do is "every time you go to start the tractor turn the key to on wait 3-4 seconds and start the tractor". Sometimes the light is off, sometimes it goes off, and sometimes it stays on for a while. The 7265 & 7360SS only have the one orange light ref. to glow plugs. If it is starting ok, "let a sleeping dog lay."

" let a sleeping dog lay" Ha!! Yeah right! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif My moto is "If it ain't broke, fix it until it is broke" /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Seriously though, the reason I am concerned is because the light has never came on and this thing pours out the white smoke( unburned fuel) when I start it up. I checked the voltage at the switch and it is fine. On the other hand when I checked the voltage at the fuse box I didn't get anything. I was thinking maybe the outside temp might have something to do with it. I guess I'll find out this winter, huh?

I have a 7360ss, and my glow plug light seems to be sensitive to outside temp. During the summer, I don't see the light. I just wait the 5 seconds and start it. During the winter, I wait till the light goes out. So, just wait for a cold night and try it.

Temperature effects glow plugs. I didn't think an indirect injection diesel would start without preheaters. 7265's are indirect injection. I asked the dealer about the glow plugs coming on and off and I was told what I stated earlier. I will check the manuel and see what it says about power to the glow plugs and dash bulb.

You don't need glow plugs when it is this warm.

I was just at my local napa. They had the oil and hydraulic filters for the 7265 listed in their book. No listing for my 7305 though...
