Tractor
48" bobcat walk behind , 60" Dixie Chopper Classic , 755 John Deere 4x4 70 ldr belly mower etc etc , 7610 Ford 4x4 7412 ldr and 10 ft rhino hogg
Turn the key to start and nothing. Battery at 12.50 volts , Fuses are good , relay by air cleaner working. What I did notice is that what appears to be an ignition module under the dash panel is also clicking, when key is in start position. No power at the starter though. I have a meter and test light. Fire away with suggestions !

The tractor ran fine all day long yesterday.

12.5 is a little low, what voltage do you get during crank ?

If little change, starting at the batt posts them selves, work your way down the heavy start cable. Retesting at every change in the cable. IE; post-clamp-cable-crimp-frame would be a typical ground cable path.

Follow the ground all the way to the frame and the positive all the way to your start solenoid.

Clean all the connections as Will mentions first. If you have a charger I would put it on the battery and top it off. If it cranks up fine then check the charging voltage and see what it is, should be about 14+ volts. If you get a good charging voltage and after setting the battery voltage drops below 12.6 volts the battery is suspect.

Thanks Will , My problem is that it won't crank at all.

Thanks guys this thing cranked fine yesterday and ran all day. It won't crank at all now.
The battery appears fine , I'm thinking its a safety switch or that ignition module just to quit all of the sudden like that.

I just attached start assist, commercial battery charger to and still nothing. This totally rules out the battery. Still no voltage at the starter , I'm gonna try jumping the seat switch.

Battery at 12.50 volts / No power at the starter though.

With your meter, start at one end or the other.

Edit; "No power at the starter" was it before or after your start solenoid ?

Charged battery almost 14 volts now, I do have juice on the large feed wire on the starter. Just nothing on solenoid side. Followed that white wire to the fuel pump shut off solenoid. The fuel pump shut off is not pulling back when the key is turned on or in the start position. It stays when I push it in with my finger.

Sounds like the main start circuit is fine then.

PTO switch ?

It appears to be the pump shut off selenoid , Power go's in but it will not hold pump open ( to run ) and it won't send the needed power to the starter.

Boy do I feel stupid ! I mean I really get the jack *ss of the year award ! This was one big false alarm and very embarrassing to have to admit to my peers. The tractor was chained down on my trailer. One chain went around the loader arm mount under the reverse pedal pushing it backwards slightly knocking out the neutral safety switch in the trans. Sorry for the false alarm guys thanks again for your help. All is well !
