755 power steering problem

I've got a nice hydraulic leak from the power steering. It doesn't occur all the time and not at full lock. I'll just be putzing around and notice a nice stream of hydraulic fluid coming from under the steering wheel running down the column. I suspect a seal is bad. I don't have a shop manual. Has anybody worked on a power steering valve. Is it difficult ? Should I just relegate it to the local dealer. I plan on ordering a manual Monday. I've got all the covers off and it looks like a bear to get to. Any insight would be appreciated.

Just got it apart, 4hrs later, must have saved $500 labor. I wouldn't do it for much less. Seems to be end and radial play in the steering column. I'll head to the dealer monday to check on a spare or rebuild kit. I'm not going to tear it apart until I find out if there is a core exchange on a rebuilt one. Nothing like getting to know the innerds of your tractor.

Boy, I'll tell you, I'd be scared of that amount of tear down without the manual - or did you get the manual before the tear-down?
So, did you replace or rebuild? How much did that run you? Did the dealer tell you what it was for him to do all the work?

No Manual, just used the pattened grey tray method. Break the job into a series of smaller jobs and each small job gets its own parts tray. As long as I don't have to wait 3 weeks for the part I'll be OK. Did have to jot down the wire color code on the console indicator lights and the configuration of the hydraulic hoses. Also I spent the first 1hr just looking !!!.

John thanks for the exploded view, unfortunately this looks like an expensive part. I'll check the dealer Monday to find out my options.

Got her back together this morning. Seal kit ran $45.00 complete unit would be $580.00 . Those little spring got pretty hairy. The hardest part was stacking all those plate together and trying to bolt it up without it flying apart. Still got the fenders off, gonna hit the rust spots and give em a touch of paint before I bolt them back on. Took the oportunity to change tranny & engine oil/filter and hit all the zercs. she purrs like a kitten. Did notice the engine oil was pretty black. I bought the tractor in August at 315 hrs. and the owner said it had just been serviced 1st of the summer . The oil looked pretty bad for just 35 hr. ( now at 350 hrs. )
