Does anyone know if it's normal for the stabilizers to only be able to lift the tires less than an inch off the ground? It is mounted on a NH 1920 with turf tires. I know they are not at the limit of their travel because if I lift the back with the BH boom they will extend further. It sounds like a relief valve is opening up when they stop. Any info or suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Bill:

Any backhoe I have seen in operation could lift the tractor well off the ground. Some operators even use them to do small side shifts.

New Holland has set the pressures on these tractors to just stabilize the tractor not lift it off the ground. if you read the operators manual on the hoe you will see NH say optimal digging is achieved with tractor stabilized and not lifted of the ground hope that helps.

Egon and spencer200 here is an update on the stabilizer problem. The rear tires are loaded with CaCl and are 700+ lbs. Also I weigh a little under 300lbs, so there is the weight of the BH 1000 lbs and another 1000. Yesterday I put the stabilizers down while I was off the tractor and they lifted to full extension. Thanks again for your help.
