790 Mid PTO Installation

Good job! KennyD and I did the mid mount PTO install for my 4400 a few years ago. If I ever buy another machine it will have one with it. Not real hard, but it included a new shaft in the trans and some BAB's (big Arse bearings). I bought a used 72 inch mmm and it works like a champ.

Yours looks considerably more involved than mine. On the 770, I dropped a cover plate off the bottom of the transmission and bolted the new gearbox up in its place. Then some linkage installation and adjustments. The tractor was made for the mid-PTO and really the only thing that's different now is that the drawbar is about 1 inch lower than it was, and I can't push the drawbar forward any more because it would hit the new gearbox. That's OK, I normally have a back blade on the thing anyway and don't use the drawbar. The kit even came with new, longer drawbar mount bolts and spacers. The only thing the kit didn't come with was a bucket of new transmission oil and the tools to do the job.

BTW, my kit, I believe, was one of the original versions, PN BM79738, which was later superseded by another version of the kit. Biggest difference I can see between what I had and what is in the pictures at the front of this thread is that the cover with my kit was a one-piece thing and wasn't at all difficult to install.
