Welcome to tbn. My TC18 (14 PTO HP) runs a 5 footer just fine. The 8n has a bit more HP...

I think the 8N had about 25 hp??? That would probably put the PTO hp about 18 or 19. Don't know how much torque there is in the engine but I think a 6' finish mower would probably work pretty well but might bog down with wet grass.

According to the I&T service manual, which has its info from the nebraska tests. The 8n has 27.x belt hp.. and about 23.x pto hp. 9n and 2n tractors have a fraction less hp, due to a lower compression ratio ( 6:1 9/2n 6.5:1 8n ).
Lots of people run 6' finish mowers on there N's. Some like 5's if their lift is weak. If you are getting too much of a bit on the 6' swath.. just cut 5' or 5.5'

I think you'll be fine. Two conditions could make it marginal - grass gettting too long and not able to fly out of the mower deck fast enough and second, going to fast of a ground speed. In either case, all you have to do is slow the ground speed a bit while keeping the RPMs up.

I would be best if you put an overrunning clutch in the pto shaft to driveline connection as well. This can help if you need to stop in a hurry for some reason. There has been lots on this issue here. Try a search for overrunning clutch.
