Like Paul said -

The problem with a 3pt is that it won't flex up & down as well - these things are designed to really move around, up down back forth and shatter the clods. The more you constrain it and the narrower you make it, the less effective it will be at doing what it should do.

Now if you had a pinned connection at both ends from the bars that connect your cultipacker axle to a boom pole, down near your drag links and secured from the axle ends to the top of the boom pole with 2 chains you'd have all the degrees of freedom that you need for the implement to move any old which way and still be able to lift it off the ground for transport - provided your 3pt has the lift capacity.

Try http://www.mcmaster.com they have almost any type bearing or bushings or about anything else for that matter. Also if you remove wheels you could try using a split shaft collar to hold the others together.

If you make it 3pt than use a chain for your top link and it will float with the ground and you could pick it up on turns.

RAMBLER. I have a 45 hp kubota, filling them with concrete was a way I was thinking of keeping the broken ones and able to use them, I have seen double wall culvert pipe filled with concrete. ( concrete idea is out )

I understand the concept of the movement now, I will use the good wheels for a while, ( might only be 6'6" but with cover tire tracks ) in the future I will just replace them with the 9" wheels from agri supply, I am welding an entire new frame for the shaft and wheels 3 pt i will post a pic of what I am going to weld.

the problem in using a pull type or 10 footer is I have to cross a creek and the path to the fields is narrow. I am going to weld a 2" receiver so once in the field it can also be towed with a quad.

That looks great. I have wanted a similar implement and wished I had the welding skills like you have to make one. Two questions: is the shaft solid steel? And do you think having another support and bearing in the middle would make it less likely to bend if you hang something while pulling? Just a thought.

Shmizer, I'm not sure of the spelling, but their rings are made to float on the axle by a couple of inches. The wheels float on the axle and just kinda rattle around to bust up the clods. I would run the thing for a while till the axle looks like it's gonna break. bjr

Its not hard get a tombstone welder ( cheap ) some 6011 rod a good auto shield and practice
