Kubota in field.jpg

One more pic. Paid $7500 for it with just over 500 hours so I am pretty pleased with it other than getting stuck. It won't get stuck in the majority of areas on my farm
but I would like it to get to some harder to get areas to cut wood and up/down logging road to my house. So I think new tires will be the first thing I get for it.

Also do you have to get 4 new tires or will it work with say just 2 beefy ones in the rear? Guy at dealer said something about the 4x4 not working right
if I had diff tires on it but wasn't sure about that.

On them you need all 4 to keep the ratio the same. Also a slightly larger tire will give you some clearance for in the mud as well as a deep tread pattern. Some of the tires come in two tread heights (smaller tire - less deep lug, bigger tire, deeper lugs).
Good tires are not cheap BUT they will last a long time and make the machine perform 10x better.
Good luck

Okay...I see your tires look pretty good. Mine are like golf cart tires compared to yours for sure. Love the load of wood, you are really loaded up.
That is one of the main jobs I plan on using it for so I just got to make sure I can get to where the wood is. Tks for the info. I will get new tires and report back with results as soon as I can.

I just compared your pics to a pic of my tires on an RTV-X1120D, and yours look like the tread depth is substantially reduced. They are "HD worksite" tires, meant to be an overall compromise, and I have had pretty good luck with them. Steepest slope I go up/down is about 40% and I haven't had issues even when it's wet. But I haven't driven in pure mud except for flat terrain.

I suspect new tires will help the problem, but if you need to deal with mud on hills, it might be worth getting a more aggressive ATV tire.

My Kubota OEM rears wear worn pretty bad so I put a set of these Deestone D985-ATV 25X11.00-12 C/6PR Outlaw M/S/T.
They look like R1 tractor tires with some siping on the bars. My front OEM's are still pretty good so I just replaced the rear. I was previously just barely getting thru muddy uphill areas in 4 WD compared to when new I could go thru them in 2 WD.
The Deestone tires were only $75 each compared to many that were over $120 each and only 3 ply or 4 ply.
Since you have the HD worksite tires, in order to use the 4 wd, you would really need to replace front and rear so the ratio is the same. Note that the front and rear is different size (at least on mine with the ATV tires. Front is a bit more narrow.

Your welcome. Been running ATV's,SxS for a LOT of years and learned that tires make a difference. I have radials on ours as it helps the ride and holds the weight really well but there are a lot of great bias tires available also. The bad thing is good tires are expensive.

The ones in my photo have 600+ miles on them and you really cant tell the difference. I am very pleased with how they are wearing.

Check out places like Rocky Mountain ATV or Discount Tires Direct - they have a good assortment with a wide variety of prices to fit within the budget. Once you decide on a set price them locally and on the net, sometimes there is a big difference in prices. Some WalMart will install ATV tires and our little local shop also does them for 5 bucks each. (they don't need balanced)

I have a sister to your machine, 08 model. They are what's called the "worksite" model. Those tires suck!!!!! They suck worse than any tire I've ever owned in mud!!!!!

I replaced mine with ITP Blackwater Evolution tires, 27x9 on front, 27x11 on rear. Should have did 11 on both ends. Was worried about rubbing.

I also built an inch lift kit. Very easy to do.

Lastly added 1.5" spacers on front, 1" on rear.

Now the machine gets around a lot better in mud, has more ground clearance and is just as stable on sidehills.

None of these pics are after adding the spacers. Sorry.

In regards to power on hills. The HVT system is unlike anything you've ever driven. For convenience Kubota linked the hydrostat and the throttle into one pedal. So,,,,, you start trying to climb a grade and the machine slows, so you push the pedal farther, which speeds up the hydrostat, which bogs the engine, which causes the machine to actually lose ground speed, so you push farther, same result...... Before you know it you are stalled and the machine will not move forward..... Very frustrating. I walked out of the timber several times to get the tractor..... I was very unhappy!!!!!! Stupidest setup I had ever used. Why couldn't they do it like an HST tractor??? Set the throttle and then apply however much HST the engine can handle.

After some educating on my part I bought a hand throttle kit. Now if I'm in a bind I can open the hand throttle, usually wide open engine speed, then apply however much pedal that I need to get the most effective use of the HST. Works much better.

With all that said. Understand this is a 2000lb machine. It absolutely cannot develop ground speed to get a run at anything. So it's left with having to crawl up everything. I have learned it's limitations and haven't been stuck for at least a year.

Back to tires for a second, here's a comparison pic of the worksite tires on the right. Blackwater's in the middle. ITP 589s on the left.
