In regards to tire height. Just like with any 4wd vehicle, you have to maintain the same height ratio. In regards to the RTV, they are identical in height. So if you only wanted to buy two for the rear they must be the same height as the existing tires.

I pinch pennies every day. But I never once considered leaving two of those worthless worksite tires on the RTV. All those tires have ever given me is grief.

One more thing. Research the tires you buy very carefully. Biggest issue is finding tires that have the load capacity required. I've not weighed my RTV but would assume that sitting with the bed empty and no operator the rears have a minimum of 450lbs each on them. Now throw in two adult men. You will likely add another 70lbs on each tire. Now we are up to 520lbs and we haven't loaded the bed. Throw on a stacked load of blocked firewood or bed full of loose dirt and we've added another 300lbs to each rear tire. That brings our grand total up to 820lbs!!!!! Read the load capacity ratings on tires very carefully. I load the snot out of my RTV. Last thing I need is a blown out tire. :)

What else can you expect when UTVs have such dinky wheels? As far as snow goes. My feeling is, if the snow is a third or more the height of the tire, your pretty much fighting a loosing battle. A BIG wheel rolls over snow. A small one tries to push and claw its way through it.

I put larger kevlar tires and a mild lift kit on my Diesel Mule from Essex Manufacturing. In truth, for the tiny bit of added capability, it probably wasn't worth the money. Plus, I'm pretty sure the driveline doesn't like the lift kit.

I only did an inch lift to be easiest on the driveline. Added 2" or tire height. So net gain was 2" under the belly.

In regards to the RTV. Everything about this machine is heavy duty and capable. Except it's ability to climb a hill.......

Put this machine in L and it should never stall the engine or refuse to spin the tires. If it can't climb it or pull it the machine should dig holes.

I have a Kawasaki Teryx4.

Wanted a 4-seat utility to haul saws, kids, etc. But didnt like any of the "utility" offerings like the kubota, mule, ranger, etc. Especially in 4-seat models. Wheelbase too long, ride like a log wagon, and limited ground clearance. The "sport" models have more power, ride 10x's smoother, and overall seem to get around much better,

So got the kawasaki used. previous owner put bigger tires on it. 30", but they arent really like ATV tires. They actually look like buckshot mudders, mastercraft courser MT's, or similar. Not really sure what they are. But I am surprised how well they get around in the mud.

When we was collecting maple sap this spring....I was driving through 6-8" ruts and mud left by the tractor. Places one wouldnt dream of taking the kubota RTV500 with Those same kubota tires like on the OP's 900. Infact, my teryx will go farther in 2wd than the RTV would go in 4wd. And much better ride/comfort doing so.

Alot of guys like the bighorn tires around here for the sxs's. But what I have works really well too

Before and after fender flares I made to keep mud out of the cockpit

I would say that the worksite tires are the problem. They pack up with mud and effectively turn into slicks. I have ATV style tires on my RTV1100 and have not had any issues with traction.

Just looked at the tires on my teryx. They are tusk terrabites. 8-ply

I put the innova mud gear tires on my RTV when the originals were worn out @ 500 hrs.

It has 2200 hrs now & it is time for new ones. I use it checking cattle so I am in a lot of mud and almost never put it in 4wd. They are 6ply & the prices are reasonable.

Mine is a lowly rtv500,and is terrible in mud. Doesn’t spin the tires fast enough. Still has Oem tires, will put on a aggressive lug tire when the time comes.
