The wipers on those were always a problem. I had a 92 and 97 Chev 1/2 ton 4x4 and my buddy had a 95 4x4... All 3 had wiper issues. If you add some solder to the wiper contacts it helps a lot.

Nice pickup. I'm always amazed at what you can get for a couple grand in terms of old, good-running farm trucks (especially given the price of new trucks today). I paid $2,400 for my pickup a few years ago and I haven't put a dime in it since. As Mossroad said, the tires alone are worth much of the price (mine were brand new when I bought the truck).

Haha MossRoad, I think you may have just named my truck. I had been looking at a 3/4 ton duramax or cummins to replace my daily driver, but since I don't need the capabilities 90% of the time, I am very pleased with this truck considering how much I paid for it. I plan on spending a little bit of money to fix the issues I mentioned, but other than that, it should be a solid truck. Gas mileage isn't a big deal because I will only drive it once a week for probably 20 or 30 miles total. Plus my wife thinks I look good in it, so it was definitely worth the money. :D

Yeah, I've got a '93 Suburban K1500 with a 350. I get 18 on the highway, but daily driving around town its 12. I drive about 9 miles per day average back and forth to work, but some days I'll put 40-50 if I take the wife to lunch, take the kid to work, hit a hardware store, etc.... Its rusty, cracked windshield, but runs great. I paid $6K about 7 years ago and have about $1500 in repairs total, plus a set of tires. I've hauled my kid to college and back, taken family trips, taken wife on vacation weekends, haul car-hauler trailer with tractor and firewood.... So, about $8000 in 7 years and its still worth $4K. I'll buy another used used used truck when this one rusts apart. I've also got a bunch of spare parts for it (computer, fuel injection, alternator, transmission) from a '93 van we scrapped. So I see myself in this thing for at least another 5 years. I may attempt to learn body work on it. Its a good candidate for free beauty school treatments!

If you're talking to me, we did that three months ago, and again(for free) 6 weeks after that!

No, that was intended for the OP. I had to change out my fuel pump on my 1994 3/4 ton Chevy this past summer. I lifted the box off in my driveway so I had easy access to it.

I guess your first time was just for the practice?

2WD shouldn't be a major problem if you use common sense. I grew up in the late 50's thru the 60's on the family farm and up until 1972, we never had a 4X4 pickup. Lots of 1/2 tons and 3/4 tons over that time. We managed to get thru some pretty nasty stuff, but there were times where we had to use the tractor to pull us out. If the 3500 has positrac, it will get thru quite a bit, especially with a little weight in the back. For a basic farm pickup to haul some stuff around, and if it is in good shape, jump on it. I could be biased, but I have always had a fondness for the 454 since the 60's. Have owned 4 of them from El Camino's to 3/4 ton pickups.
