I feel for you! I would have to call in someone on your bad day tractoring for sure. From the looks of that, it is beyond my capability to repair. That would not be pretty if I tried to fix it.

Let us know how it comes out, or in this case goes back together.

a transit takes 2 people to operate.... a level takes one... it is up to the jury to decide... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ugh... I see you found a dozer. Somthing to keep in mind, the torch is usually the cheapest part. The tanks are the $$.

Torches are fun. Just don't set the Acetylene above 15psi and you should be fine.

Yea, me too. What a trooper. I would have been so sore about it, it would take me years to talk about it.

Well one side done, the other is waiting on the rip rap and the base gravel. Photos in my album, which I think I did right

I'm betting the home made transit isn't any more accurate than the 8' 2X4 with the level taped to it. the level bubble would have to be accurately aligned with the crosshairs, not the tube of the scope. they're are relatively simple procedures you could do after you built it to test the accuracy though.

I am thinking that to get a true flat line, a level sight at say 100' and then one at 20' 4 feet off the ground should do that pretty well.

There would be 3 levels, one on the tripod, one on the head, and one on the scope. You are correct though and I had thought of that!

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and where do you buy 2x4's, I have not seen a true straight one in a long long long time............

OK, this part of the project did not work as well as I hoped for, the gravel is in, the water is now under the gravel and not moving out. I opted not to put the pipe in as this area does not have enough slope to use it. I added about 3 inches of gravel, which at the current rate will be in the mud soon.

Where the pipe on the side comes to is about level with this. I could dig a trench here and put in pipe to join up with the other down the way, but hoping there is a better way. My next solution will be a concrete walkway around the whole thing and be done with it. I have the rock base, or sort of anyway.

Suggestions PLEASE!

This is the spot that the 2 directions meet. this can be a little deeper without taking out the whole thing, but I would like to be able to keep movement to a minimum, as this part worked well.
