I am sure that "More Dick" has delt with just about every low life there is around his neck of the woods and due to that fact he had enough after a while.

I sure don't envy the job that Cops have today, and in this instance where a decision had to be made and honestly the "Dick" made a good one in my opinion. I personally would not have had the patience to last 2 hours let alone 9.

I guess thats why I'm not a cop......

I don't know, guys. The reporter states about halfway through the story that "she, her boyfriend, her 4 children and SIX OTHERS THAT WERE LIVING IN THE HOME don't know where they'll spend Thanksgiving".

Holy cow! That's an awful small pile for a freakin' dozen folk...must have been bunking on the roof.

And "Dick"...he looks like a real class act, that one.

Unfortunately, it seems a tremendous amount of effort was made to make it right, but how much can you help in such a hopeless situation...especially when you have Bob and JimBo with the tractors out there dying to tear something up like GraveDigger. Clearly she hired some goon with zero credentials and she's left holding the bag. Sad.

Yea, it is bad. If you'd like some insight on what the people here in Carlisle actually have to say about it, go to.. CarlisleKY.com - Carlisle Kentucky USA, Carlisle, KY.

That is our community forum, and I think it's becoming a tool for us to defend ourselves against negative publicity.

The news has left a LOT out of the store in order to make at more comedic than it really is.

This is just another story distorted by the media. As far as i can tell no one has bothered to tell that this family is taken care of by working family's thru wic,and food stamps.Nobody has mentioned that she owns another mobile home.Nobody has mentioned that she has a rebel flag flying at her two storyhouse on north broadway,i would be happy for the lexington paper or cnn to come do an interview there.Nobody mentioned the fact that they had 9 hours to get their belongings out of the home before anything happened.Nobody has said anything about the food thrown out on the ground and wasted because she knew that the state would re-fill her food stamp card {which they did},and their wic card.As i see it this woman thought the laws didn't effect her as they do everyone else. She got exactly what she paid for.It is so sad that people will donate to her just because of a few tears shed on national tv.She would like everyone to believe all those poor pitiful kids are hers when in fact most of them belong to her sister who is going to jail and can no longer take care of them.Really a nice family,so everyone get out those hard earned dollars and make sure this woman never has to work for anything, as for me she gets not one more cent than the state already takes from my pay-check.

Thank you Boozy! How else could this have been solved? For all of you who think that there is a better solution, let's hear it! He could not order 68 be rebuilt around her trailer!! I think that he did what he thought was right when he had tried everything that could be tried. He did not have to even try! He could have arrested them all and ordered the trailer moved in ten minutes, but no he waited NINE HOURS in freezing rain!!! Do you think that if something like this had happened in Lexington on New Circle they would have waited nine hours and not arrested her? No they would have arrested her and Pancake on the scene and pushed it out of traffic, destroying it or not! She should be thanking him for letting her remove her things before they tried anything!

overall, I don't completely agree with the first poster, however if what he says is true and if she helps manage a TRAILER PARK like it says in the story she should REALLY know what to look for (or at least who to ask) to get it done properly. it almost sounds like (pure conjecture here) she bought a "fixer upper" from someone who was moving out/up and the park said she had to get it moved ASAP, so she did.
do I think the sheriff made the right decision? yes, he tried for 9 hrs to get it moved, including calling in a professional towing and recovery company who tried to move it but couldn't without breaking the trailer. is sounds like he was trying to have the guys with tractors push the trailer off the road sideways but it flipped instead of sliding. I do not see (I am certain we arent getting the full story) where he gave any orders to "destroy" the mobile home as the headline insinuates, it sounds like it was 2am, he had been up since 8 (or earlier) he had been in the road working on this for 9 hrs and he told the tractor operators to push it off the road. I also think that his media relations should be better, the story is very much slanted AGAINST him and he made soem STUIPD remarks (also at 2am?), perhaps he POed a reporter by giving a stupid remark to a question?
IMO the one who should be paying for these problems is "Pancake", NOT the sheriff, he was doing the tow and should have told her that he wasn't moving the trailer with all her belongings in it, he also should have put decent tires under it. perhaps his 10 yrs of exp has been moving homes around the trailer park? that would explain a lot of what he did.

You're onto their plan...register to read, then they spam you to death on explainations defending the fact that 'Dick' was the most qualified candidate for the job...

Of course, the post by Mr. Aczlan seems to summarize the facts best. People should be angry at Pancake. Not Dick.

Man, that's weird.

I'll bet, in her view, her feelings are completely justified. She probably feels that she should have been allowed as much time as it would take, to move that trailer and the town, county, state should provide the needed assistance to get it done.
I know many people who have no problem receiving free anything (assistance, physical or material) , they feel they need it.
I may disagree, though like many taxpayers, I'm on the giving end and not the receiving end.

It also says that Sheriff "stood in the rain from roughly 4:30 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. directing traffic with the rest of his force, a single deputy."

How many of you have stood out in the rain directing traffic? I have.;)

Bird, i have alot of respect for you, but please go back and read your post.

"The Sheriff stood in the rain directing traffic"..... isn't this what he is PAID to do? Long hours that day? Sure. That means he is allowed to destroy someones home and all their belongings? If the Sheriff was directing traffic, this means traffic WAS negotiating around the incident, either by turning around and finding another route or passing the incident in the oncoming lane. Only one deputy? Does this county have no type of mutual aid agreement ? Since the Sheriff was unable to keep his own temper in check in this non-violent traffic tie-up, could he NOT call in the State Police of local police to take over directing traffic??

Who is at fault for the traffic tie-up? Certainly NOT the home owner who was PAYING someone to move the mobile home. "Pancake" needs to be held accountable for moving this unit without a permit, impeding traffic, and whatever other infractions they can throw at him.

I'm not letting the towing service off the hook either. Follow the link to their site and look at the equipment they boast to have at their disposal. Could this mobil home be moved? I assure you it could. Could it be moved safely in the dark? Maybe not. Did they refuse to move it because they were afraid they may have trouble getting paid? Quite possibly. In any event, there most certainly is another towing service that could be called, perhaps that company might be located further away ..... but so be it. If Roberts refused to move it at the request of law enforcement simply because they thought it may be a challenge to get paid...... then they should be dealt with. Removing them from the list of towing services (even if they are the ONLY towing service) called by the county would be in order. Taking any and all truck wrecks away from them will punish them where it hurts most..... their wallet! Eventually another towing service will pop up in the county as soon as the demand for it justifies someones investment.

Tongue broke off the trailer? Hook the under reach directly to the trailer frame. I've included a few pics i easily found on the internet of large vehicles that are no longer structurally sound being (magically) moved by QUALIFIED towing services. How abouut the box trailer broken in the middle??

I have no respect for the home owner. I don't particularly appreciate ANYONE who makes the decision to mooch off the system for their entire life. Personally, i don't feel i should have to support this type of person. Unfortunately, or "system" feels otherwise, since we have plenty of second and third generation welfare recipients. As far as i know, recieving assistance is NOT illegal. As far as i know being ignorant is not illegal either. If it were, it appears to me the Sheriff should be arrested.

"I know I wouldn't pay somebody $200 to move my house and everything in it," said Garrett, noting that the group didn't have a required permit or escort. Basically, he said, he could have arrested the lot of them: Barton, her brood and the hauler. The charge, he said: "being ignorant."

The Sheriff sounds pretty ignorant to me. If he can't keep his cool directing traffic in the rain, for what amounts to a simple traffic situation, how can we trust him to carry a gun?

Now, i'll admit i HAVEN'T stood in the rain directing traffic. As someone who worked in the towing industry 23 years, i HAVE worked around the clock, at times for nearly three days straight in two foot snow and forty mile per hour winds with little to no sleep more times than i could count. When i was exhausted and encountered someones vehicle abandoned on the side of the road because it was stuck in the snow, could i simply ram it into the ditch so myself and other traffic wouldn't need to negotiate AROUND it ???? I didn't think so That simply is NOT how our society functions (as much as we might wish otherwise at times).

Almost forgot the pics:

"The Sheriff stood in the rain directing traffic"..... isn't this what he is PAID to do?

No, it really isn't. But just for the sake of argument, let's pretend it is. Then just how many hours (or days) do you think he should have stood there?

Does this county have no type of mutual aid agreement ?

I don't guess either us know about that.

Since the Sheriff was unable to keep his own temper in check in this non-violent traffic tie-up

What makes you think he had a problem with his temper?

Did they refuse to move it because they were afraid they may have trouble getting paid?

I guess we don't know about that either, but I doubt that was the problem. I know in Dallas the City would pay if the vehicle owner did not, so that was never a consideration for the towing company. However, if the towing company did any damage to whatever they were moving, that company, or its insurance would have to pay for the damage.

The Sheriff sounds pretty ignorant to me. If he can't keep his cool directing traffic in the rain, for what amounts to a simple traffic situation, how can we trust him to carry a gun?

Now, I'll admit that Sheriff did not appear very impressive, but you're assuming facts not in evidence.:D There must be some reason he was elected.;)
