You and your kin worked in 107 degree temperatures? You worked the whole day, not jsut in the morning and the evening?

Rox, in this part of Texas if you took off work when it is hot you would only work about 4 months of the year.:p

Seriously, when you start early in the morning you just get used to the heat. Precautions should be taken, but you have to work. The worst thing a man can do is eat lunch inside in the AC. Stay outside, in the shade, and eat. Drink plenty of water, but not too much (my Dad loves to tell the story about when I drank a lot of good cold water while cutting wood in June. I was sick as a dog for a couple of hours. I don't drink too much water at one time any more :D ) You just get used to the heat. Probably much as a Minnesota guy gets used to the cold. Live with it and get the job done.

That said, Harv would probably have rather worked on this project in January, but the work comes when it comes.

Due to the problem with the stone guys at the quarry not delivering and conflicts in schedules I lost the laborers for bringing down the stone from the road.

But I have a son, a son in law, and an adopted son.

Here's adopted son and son in law putting the cart before the, well, uh, horse.

Harvey, I spent the weekend with relatives too, but mine was watching my grandkids swim in our lake. Your weekend was considerably different. It was just as hot here, but the hardest thing we did was pick watermelons out of the garden.;)

I hope your son-in-law heals quickly. The job progress looks terrific. I'm sure the client is thrilled with your progress and dedication. It seems that many contractors look for reasons to slow down on a job. In your case, you make tremendous sacrifices to complete the job as planned. If the client doesn't realize how rare that is, he's blind.

Any progress on the project? Last I saw was on the 17th. I was eagerly awaiting pics of the handrail.

Son and son in law worked today wire brushing with angle grinders and polishing the welds. Then we laid down a coat of primer.

Son in law is doing good with the finger. Young guys heal quick. Young guys with a family to feed heal even quicker. Young guys with a family to feed and a love for work heal quickest of all.

He's almost as good as new (except when he bangs that finger into something).

Yup, I was the one that picked out that pea green color.

I did it for the same reason I picked out the hammered tubing.

If you get ugly ugly enough it can be pretty.

When I've got the handrail all pea green I'll follow that with a can of black Rustoleum black. I'll lay down a light coat of black and then wipe it off just right-wrong. The end effect will be an old handrail that once was old school pea green.

Trust me.

harv,
Nice the way you wrapped the reailing around the cornerstone.
Came out real real nice.

Thank you Rox.

I was really worried about the color I chose. But I took a piece of the tubing and primered it, painted it the green, and then did my black and wipe thing.

I showed it to the clients this morning.

They loved it.

It's one of those things where I just kinda sorta knew without knowing if you know what I mean the sum of the parts would overwhelm any one component.

Without the hammered tubing the green and black treatment would be less. And without the green and black the hammered tubing would be less. The same goes for the rocks and their random placement and nature.

I just felt that all together they would be great. And it appears the client agrees.

Nice innovative work & solution. You care to divulge the price tag on the entire project???

wow Harvey thats real nice! Word is traveling fast about it too. Everyone wants to get there and see it.

I wasn't able to picture it and even after you explained it I couldn't see it. Nice.

I think Steve needs to add a Mowing Barge to his equipment list so his guys can get their mowers in.
