The knocking over of the trash and maybe keeping the dogs away has to do with an electric fence charger. Use a metal garbage can, sit it on a tire and hook to fence charger. It will only take two attempts at most by the dogs and then you can disconnect the fence charger, and the dogs might avoid your location alltogether. If you have plastic cans wrap them in poultry wire.
Paintball guns also work well to tag and discourage roving cats and dogs and it is always nice when the paint gets rubbed off the critter onto the offending neighbors furniture /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For a one time occurance I don't think I'd get too excited. Besides, after the winter, my yard is a dog crap minefield anyway.

As for Kyle, I was in the exact same position a couple of months ago. I went out, got real close to the dog and loosed off the shotgun a couple of times in its ear and it took off, never to return .... yet. If that had failed, it was going to be case of dig hole, shoot dog, drop dog in hole, fill hole in, "Nope, haven't seen your dog ... must have run off". Someone else's dog tearing stuff up, threatening you when you go outside and messing all over the deck, garage and pool area can get old in a hurry. My 3 dogs aren't allowed to behave like that so I don't see why I should I should have to tolerate it from someone else who is too lazy to train or restrain their dog properly. It's just a pity that it's the dogs that have to suffer for the owners neglect.

Ya.. like I said in the earlier post. I don't mind my neighbors dogs in my yard... or even crapping in my yard or even digging an occasional hole. But if they were to get aggressive with me or my family, or cause damage that is a whole different ball of wax.

I keep my dog in a containment system. I have enough damage with my own dog. He has rounded all the corners on the deck and even decided that a piece or two of my cedar siding looked good.

Other than damage, I even encourage my neighbors dogs to come around.

We live in the country and the neighbors aren't visible from our front "yard". I discourage visiting dogs with either a pellet pistol or .38-40 revolver with a wax "bullet" and primer ONLY. For a little more range I use a .38-40 lever action rifle. Rarely takes more than twice.

Thanks to everyone for their posts.
I am new here and am starting to rant without all thefacts, just trying to get everyone's opion to see if I am in line with them.

This far from the first time by their dogs and others. But this was the first time I saw these people watching their dogs doing it on our lawn while they were busy cleaning up their lawn from the same thing.

Their are other things also but I was trying to make a long story short. As Freds mentioned and I didn't,I do not have a dog but will have another someday.

But why? Should I take pride in having a nice lawn that I can't walk across or my son play on without stepping in somone elses dog crap. It's not just this one neighbor either dogs run amuck on this street.

As Byronbob brought up,I am sure I can stop the problems and be on the winning side but the real loser is going to be my son with few kids to play with and battling parents?

Live and let live but at what point do you draw a line and say I don't care enough is enough.

Check with your local authorties. Some have laws against
dogs that are not kept under control. Some even have animal
control officers that enforce the local animal laws.
Too bad there has to be people who won't control their dogs and keep them on their own property.
I have the same problem-nice people-lousey dogs! Or is
it nice dogs-lousey people?
Good Luck with solution. If there is one.

No it's great dogs-IDIOT owners it's not a dog thats at fault just people that do not think about anything except themselves and just think that EVERYBODY should put up with what ever their animals do to your private property.

Call it for what it is- a kid up the the street just got bit/ he slapped the dog and he got harrassed by the kids who "owned" the dog.And when the mother came out to see what the **** was going on-the little 10 year old started giving the mother crap about her kid hitting his dog.

They are not allowed there again/ kids or dogs

Funny how things happen.I guess I won't be the only evil one for calling animal control.I thought about just "sucking it up" not now.

( the little 10 year old started giving the mother crap about her kid hitting his dog.) and here is the direct evidence of the root of the problem....poor-to-worse parenting. When I was a young-un (and I'm only 55) I would NEVER have given a neighbor...or any adult....any guff. Neighbor man would have spanked my @-- for sassing his wife, and if he called my folks, there'd be an extra dose at home (if he didn't call them I sure didn't tell them, and in fact chalked it up as credit to the neighbor that I owed him). Totally different ethics/behavior in a LARGE part of the population. All about ME..MY RIGHTS (as in my right to annoy you in any fashion I want)...with no consideration for general cooperativeness, little or no sense of community or kindredness with those around you.

Sorry for the rant...I really see it this way, and see more if it every day. I think most of those who come to forums like this are probably still "old school"....but most of you see it in the community around you..don't you? Isn't this a part of why many of us move to outlying areas?
