Fredex, I sure would like to know which brand it was a Ferguson or a Dearborn. I see a metal tag on the 3point but it is too rusted, there are some numbers on the shank but I don't know what they mean. My Dad said he might have some fenders laying around. Thanks for the "new terminology" (to me) now I am getting close to being able to do "real" tractor talk with my Dad. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Nat, thanks for the reply, can't wait to start turning soil.
Jim, You are right we have already planted this year in our "small weekend garden". We had so much to do to get settled in after the move that a new and bigger garden was low priority. I might try to do a fall garden with my new toy. Next year I hope to plant enough corn for us and the raccoons and make that big watermelon patch I have been dreaming about for a long time. After living in the big city for the last 50 years I still fell like it is not real to finally be living in the country. I have a lot of catching up to do and I'm loving every bit of it. I will be interested in seeing what your middle buster looks like so I can keep a lookout for one at the local auction.
Bird thanks for the tip on Tractor Supply Co. I actually have one within 30 miles.
Jerry G. mine is a 7 foot also. Do you have a picture of yours? Were you at the same auction I was at? There was another cultivator exactly like you described, with the springs, at this auction that went for about $250. I think a local tractor dealer won the bid.
There were about 300 people at this estate auction and bidding was fierce. There were no steals. I got out bidded on many items. I got my cultivator for $275, not a steal but the owner will have a bit more to retire on now. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I'm sure the tractor dealers on TBN will jump in and say "I got one of those on my lot for $150. If so I guess I paid for the thrill of beating out that other sucker. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I also got this 7 foot blade at the auction also - see attachment. I have been wanting a blade for terrace and ditch work. The box blade I have is good for road leveling and pulling dirt but I also found that I needed to be able to throw the dirt quickly to the side and out of the way when making a sloped cut. More toys to play in the dirt with, can't wait, but first I must build for a while. There will be a steel building post coming soon.
EDIT Jerry G Your picture came while I was writing this post. So, what was your winning bid? It was not the same cultivator at the auction I attended, that one actually had "coil" springs on it.
