Defender,

That's fine. I will be around this weekend, but I work at Marathon in Garyville M-F.

I also did my research as you are doing now. I am not saying that my deal was THE deal for everyone out there, but it sounds like you are having some of the same problems I was having. You also seem to be in the market for the same size tractor. I can tell you that out of the numerous dealers I visited, either in person or on the web, I narrowed it down to the local three you mentioned.
Gulf South was high, but they had the biggest selection at the time and their service dept seemed pretty good. However, they wanted to charge me $150 for delivery. That kind of turned me away due to the principle. It made me wonder how they would treat me on service calls.
Liberty tractor has been around a while. They used to be the place to go, but in the past two or three years they have really forgot about the customer. They seemed eager to sell you whatever they can and I have numerous friends that refuse to take equipment to them for service, even though they bought from them. Quite frankly, they had me so PO'd that I would never buy from them or recommend them to anyone.
Singleton's now has a large selection of tractors. Most of them are already fitted with FEL's. There service dept gets an A+ from me, even though I have not had to use them. They have came out to my house at no charge to adjust the shift linkage, and they worked with me on two other small problems with the startup timer and a leaking fuel line. They not only had the lowest prices, but also delivered the tractor for free, gave me a free service on all break in fluids, and threw in a couple of freebies upon purchase. It is a small business, but the people there are great.
I know it sounds like I am trying to sell you on Singleton's, but I am actually just relaying my experience. I won't make anything and don't have any affiliation with them, but you should consider shopping there. I shopped around for three years before choosing the 4530.
I have 20 acres in Greensburg with about 4 of it being my 'yard'. I needed something that would not tear up my yard (industrial tires) but still be able to cut a 13 acre field without any problems. I have found that the 4530 is tight when pulling my finishing mower around the yard, but it does tread lightly despite the heavy weight.
I ended up choosing the 4530 over the 4110 because I am not a fan of anything electrical (PTO on 4110) that will end up not working when you need it the most. (Ya'll don't kill me this one!) There was also some personal issues with the engine and transmission. The Mahindra engine on the 4530 is close to the old Perkins you would find on older Massey's, at least in my opinion.

Check your inbox when you read this. I will PM you with my numbers.

cdover73: Do you run a rotary clipper (bushhog) with your 4530, and if so, what size? As I mentioned before, I am little concerned with the 34HP at the PTO, particularly when I should be using a min. 35 pto HP with my clipper. I mainly use my tractor for cutting, and cutting that thick bahaya grass in south LA can really bog down a tractor. I don't like to have to make 2 passes.

I really have my eye on the 4530, but I'm not in a hurray, and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about them from people that are already using them.

Brbob,

Ihave the 6' 286 bushhog rotary cutter. It is not the heaviest cutter out there but it handles all my needs. The 4530 has no problem with it either. I cut about 13 acres of bahaia with no problem. However, don't expect to do it in record time. I have found that even though it cuts fine in high range 1st gear it does better with less strain in low 3rd. This takes longer but leaves a better cut. I am also talking about knee high grass. In shorter grass high range is fine. I know the rated hp of the 4530 is low but I think it may be an inaccurate rating. These machines have power to spare and other than the startup timer relay I have never had a problem bogging the engine. If anything I have bent more due to overpowering implements than ever needing more power from this machine.

Thanks for the info cdover73. If defender gets the 4530, I'll be watching both of your posts to see how you like it. I still have to figure out how I'll trailer the beast. It's too heavy (with a front loader and rotary clipper) for my F150 to haul on the hwy.

Defender:

Have you made a decision yet on which tractor? Did you try out CDOVER73's 4530?

Defender,

Did you visit Chandler Equipment. He is located on Greenwell Springs Rd. about eight miles north of Hooper. He has Mahindra tractors, and also carries Woods brand implements.
