Hello everyone in TBN who use backhoe, I have a question about backhoe storage. look at this photo, this one backhoe which I produced, you can see one of its feet sinking, after several weeks, it will sink to the bottom, it is because there is no oil lock system in the valve inside.

so my question is: do you meet this problem when storage your backhoe(foreign brand backhoe, not made in China)?

Mine does the same. It has a nice bar on the bottom and I made a stand that fits under it. It seems to take the pressure off the stabilizers legs and keep it from sinking. Every now and then I back up to it and hook the remotes up to lift everything up too

I have a john deere 48 backhoe and both feet drop over about a four week time period.

Yes, in fact, I already have plan to add support leg for it.

so is your backhoe foreign brand? I mean if it is not from China.

ok, so JD backhoe valve also didn't lock its oil when not using it. Thank you.

I do not think it would be classified as that. Mine is much more heavy duty than that one. Will look tomorrow at the manual to find the brand.

I have a set of car moving dollies (harbor Freight, $50 ) that I set my BH on, so I can scoot it out of the way.
A piece of chain to keep the stabilizers UP...
Works great!
Sorry, no Pics, it's 600 miles away...

Take a piece of u shaped steel or an angle iron that you place over the hydraulic cylinder rod to set the back hoe stabilizers down on would eliminate the sinking. It would also be a lot easier on the seals in the cylinders. Just my opinion.

IIRC, the manual for my Kubota B21 says to block up the bh when storing it. IDK, I've never taken mine off.

It's also a safety factor: what damage would occur if it tipped over and fell?

My JD backhoe sits on a wood 2x6 on a concrete floor, never use the stabilizers as the lift arms can drop the hoe directly to the floor without them.

As others have noted my stabilizers would also leak down in a few days if I attempted to use them for support.

My Kubota B26 leaks down also. IIRC the manual says to remove the BH from the tractor supports then lower all the cylinders to a relaxed state so the hoe sets firmly on the ground (or dunnage if you like) then unhook the hydraulics. Never use the cylinders for support as almost all of them leak to some extent.
Crib up under the back hoe frame so it holds it firmly, lower the bucket, stabilizers till all the pressure is off, then unhook and drive away. A few folks build special dollies for their hoe so after it is removed they can move it around when needed. I don't ever remove mine since the major function of that tractor is dirt work or digging up stumps/trees. I use my other tractor for bush hog work.

When I take the backhoe off the B21 I set it down with 5 parts touching the ground - the two stabilizer bases, the boom swivel base, the bucket tucked in, and the two stabilizer pads down. Can't fall down or sag. For hookup attach hoses, walk it to attaching height using bucket and stabilizers.

This is what I have done with some success:

Thank you everyone, I think I need to updata my backhoe manual, I will show you photo after we produce the support leg.

general rule of thumb, i always release the pressure from hydraulics, after tractor is shut down, if you leave pressure in the system and or use the hydrualics to hold something up. you may have one heck of a time getting the quick connects to reconnect, at a later time.

all hydraulics leak, never trust hydraulics to hold something up.

let unit lay down on the ground or on a dolly, and if need be, buy some short "quick connect hoses" so you can run between tractor and backhoe. during connecting it backup. the short hoses. lets ya connect up to backhoe while on ground, and use the out riggers and hoe itself to lift it backup to a point you can attach it back onto the tractor. then during final hookup, remove the short hoses.

Yes I do what Boggen said, he explained it better. I don't understand going to a lot of trouble to prop it up high. Heavy things propped up is an accident waiting to happen.

I made many support leg for backhoe storage, here is the photo which I took from our workshop. the backhoe now is standing by those two steel legs, not by its cylinder leg.
