Hi All, I have a 06' Kubota L-4330 HSTC, when running the FEL , my local dealer says to run between 2,000-2,500 rpm, that is when the machine will run its best, dont worry about the engine reving high....its made to. My question is this and it may be a stupid one, i use this just for snow removal etc. When driving, say to my next account which is a mile or so away, i'm in "high" going say 15mph, at 2,200 rpm or so. When i come to a traffic signal and say its red, when i let off the hst, tractor slows down to almost a stop, should i continue to leave the rpm where its at, or knock the throttle down, til the light turns green?? or does it matter?

Philip

PS, learning alot from you guys!

You can run the RPM's any where you feel comfortable with. I run my B3200 around 1800 for snow removal with the fel, play around with it, rpm's do not have to be screaming to work right.

Well this is just me and I am kinda annal but I usually knock it to idle mostly because I dislike the noise but as far as harming anything, no the only harm is to the ears. I also run it at the rpm that suits the task.:)

Whatever makes you comfortable as it really makes no difference. I drive my HST L5030 as well as our M8540 between properties, one four miles and one six. Sometimes I drop the RPM's and sometimes I don't. I always do on the geared unit and will sometimes instinctively do so on the L5030. Otherwise I just leave it running at my traveling RPM.

You can run the RPM's anywhere you feel comfortable.

On my little BX I throttle down when sitting. I like to tell myself it saves a little wear and tear, saves fuel, whatever. In reality it is probably more to just cut down the noise and fumes. But when it's working it's all WOT, all the time. These engines *like* to scream, no doubt.

Welcome to TBN! :welcome:

Does your 4330 have auto-throttle? If you use that it would not be an issue. Sometimes I run for miles like yourself and use cruise control and max rpm. When I come to a stop and disengage the cruise, the engine overshoots a little to 2900 rpm. Sounds fast till the govenor catchs up (or down), but it does not hurt anything. Sometimes I reduce rpm when anticipating the stop, sometimes I don't. If in stop and go traffic I do reduce rpm's. I don't think I gave you a clear answer, but rest assured, you are not hurting the engine. Philip.

I think if you're driving in high gear I'd idle down after stopping. Otherwise you take off kind of fast, but that's got nothing to do with hurting the tractor, it's just easier on the human. Also kind of loud just sitting there.

If it helps set the scale, when we lose electrical power I use my tractor to power a backup generator. Sometimes it runs for almost a day at ~2500RPM before power is restored. So it's not going to hurt your engine to run at full speed at a stoplight.
