A question on my MF 50

Just got a MF 50 with a MF 100 loader. The problem is when I go to lift either the bucket or the whole loader, it goes down until I get the lever back a little bit. The problem is doing any kind of precise work with the loader gets a little dangerous if it won't go up right when you tell it to go up! I was looking at the hydraulics to check the fluid level or change it out completely. It seems like the loader hydraulics are separate from the tractor other than the front mounted pump. There is a cap on the loader arm by the valves that seems like it should be a fill cap or dipstick but when I take it off it looks more like a breather. Any ideas?

Sounds like it has a dump position on it which is pulling the handel all the way back. It will just take a little time to get use to it. The cap on the side is the fill cap. Most of them came with a dipstick and it was prob lost or just taken off.

Maybe I wasn't clear on my problem. When I pull back slowly on the lever as if to raise the bucket or arms nice and slowly, the bucket/arms go down...almost like it has a leak or something. Then I have to pull the lever farther back to keep it from dropping and make it go up. I hope this is a little clearer but if not please let me know. Thanks.

Does the joystick controller have cables running from it to the hydraulic valves or does the joystick mount directly to the valve assembly? If it has cables it may just need an adjustment.

I have two levers one for the bucket and one for the loader arms. I believe they are both directly running the hydraulics with no cable.

Sounds like the loader valve needs to be checked.

The valve can be rebuilt if needed. Worn valves can cause your problems.
