Tractor
NH Boomer 40
About a month ago I installed and got to use my new Piranha bar. My tractor is a New Holland Boomer 40 with a 72" bucket.

Installation was a snap (except me trying to drill a couple large holes through that hardened steel). Just about snapped my wrists off LOL.

In short I cannot be more happy. BEST investment I think I have ever made for my tractor. The bar really has transformed the tractor into a new & totally different machine. I have a 1000' long tree line that is about 50' wide and I wanted it to only be around 20' wide by 1000' long. Attempts at using the stock FEL and large bucket were painful & very inefficient. As soon as I added the bar the tractor transformed itself into Abrams M1A1 tank and destroyed just about anything I attacked with it. In just several days I was able to do what would have taken me all summer.

I have shot a couple videos on the installation and use of the bar but they are not very good. There are a lot of really awesome tractor guys out there with some awesome video talent & equipment but I am not one of them. I shoot my video with a 15 year old hand-held camera. This prevents me from showing all the cool shots from outside of the cab while the tractor works. It is hard to hold a camera with one hand, use the steering wheel and work the loader all at the same time.

Anyway, if you can put up with my sucky imaging here are a couple links:

Bottom line, highly recommend. GV

That's awesome! Thanks for providing the feedback to the forum. My Piranha Bar arrived about a month ago, but life has happened and I haven't had a chance to install it yet. The packing was very damaged from UPS, but the toothbar and drill bits were in the package and relatively fine. Hoping to get it installed SOON!

Video was great. Glad to hear you like the bar!

I was debating between it and the ratchet rake, but settled on the rake for my application because I had a bunch of brush I needed to yank out by the roots as much as possible. That's the big difference between the 2 products, the PB slices through everything, the RR grabs on and pulls stuff.

Hi Gene, thanks very much for letting me know ! I must admit I have not heard of a ratchet rake before but it sounds like another neat attachment. I will have to look one up to see what they look like. How large of a brush or sapling etc can the rake yank out?

I do have one more video of the finished tree line all leveled out and ready for seed but its at the tail end of a video I just put up on a Part 2 review of the NH Boomer 40. The video ended up being way too long but there was a lot to cover. Anyway if you like I can pass along the URL to you. Thanks again for letting me know about the ratchet rake. GV

Yeh, it's pretty cool. Easy to mount, just uses straps to stay on. Around the same price as the piranha bar. I have a video of me using it: Trying out the Ratchet Rake - YouTube

That is very cool. Thanks for sharing that. I can certainly see where that would come in very handy. I think for the overgrown shape of my treeline and the size of most of the saplings etc the PB was a good choice. What I ended up doing was going over my finished area with the rear blade and that not only leveled the dirt but it did rip out many of the remaining stems and roots.

Sounds good, mah. Yeh, people LOVE the piranha bar for good reason.

I take it that’s your Call Sign. Yep them PB’s can do some damage, I even used it as a pry tool to get this rock out, it was flush with the ground, here are 2 picks of a area I did with my new PB, before and after.

Howdy Jim. Yes that is my call sign. It looks like you have been having as much fun with your PB as I have been with mine. It just amazed me how it transformed the capabilities of the tractor. My mistake was getting such a wide bucket....72" is huge making it hard to do anything but push snow with. But with the PB all that changed.

My initial intention of getting a piranha bar was to keep ware from eating up the cutting edge of the bucket moving snow. It has worked well for that, however you will get a quick lesson in learning to keep the bucket level on the frozen gravel drive way.

I have done a little digging with it. Some dirt out of a bank on the edge of the pasture to make a bunker for a target stand. That dirt went to level a spot to install more raised garden beds for Sweetie.

This attachment has been well worth the hassle with shipping and customs to this part of the north.
