I agree Kaliburz and it wasn't until recently that I updated my car. (My old guys were 16 and 22 years old.)

Because I live in snow country and we get flash storms with white outs that can stop you dead on the road I bought a 4WD wagon. A Subaru Outback and by the way Subie's are made IN the USA in Indiana. You might want to check one out when the time comes.

I got a toe bar for my trailer which enables me to pull stuff around when I need the extra hauling and a roof rack to get wood and metal for my projects. Most stuff goes in the back of the Wagon.

Mileage isn't great. I get about 25 to 30 mixed but I tried to get something that will cover many areas not to commute (I'm retired now so I don't have that burden)

I don't know how some people do it. They have two new cars one for the worker to go to work and an SUV to take the kids to school. Figure this, a new SUV costs you a down payment plus insurance, plus payments and gas. Figure it out! I'll bet it cost easily over three grand a month just in cars, fuel and payments. Now add house payments, dentists bill and all the rest and you better be working and send the kids to work too.

Wow there are some stong opinions on this subject. I am one of the "Dont care" crowd. I drive a 4x4 crew cab Diesel truck every day. >400.00 A MONTH in fuel. I could drive a battey powered golf cart but I choose my truck. I have a boat,atv,tractor,riding mower,pressure washer,chainsaws,weedwacker,generator, and use them as I see fit. If I want to load up any of my toys and have fun I will do it. You can try and teach anylesson you want but as most of my high school teachers found out 20+ years ago I DONT CARE.
