This has come up at a very opportune time! I happened to run onto this thread and have set here for over an hour reading it in its' entirety. My wife's SIL passed away about a year ago after a 5yr long battle with breast cancer. It was horrible. I have never seen a person suffer so much. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that my left nipple was very tender, and if I pressed directly on it, it hurt. I watched it for a few days, and decided that a trip to the primary care was in order. He pushed and probed for a while. I don't find a lump, and I don't think he did either, but scheduled an ultrasound. I just talked to the radiologist nurse, and she said they would do a mammogram at the same appt. Next Tuesday at 10:45. I've had a prostectomy for cancer 16 yrs ago, and the PSA always comes back 0, so haven't worried about cancer. This has my attention. Jinman, I owe you for all the info and experiences you have posted here, and I certainly admire your moxie.

Cancer is a horrible disease for men, women, and children. Nothing is acceptable except 100% eradication. As you can see from the support I have received here, there is no reason to feel embarrassed or shy about seeking help. Your life is too precious to take chances with.

Bird, I'm convinced that another 30 lb off would be totally therapeutic and help my COPD immensely. It also will help my poor circulation and swollen legs. At this age, I need to stay below 200 lb.

Murph, I'm sure the chemo is putting a strain on my immune system, but it is doing me so much good elsewhere that it is hard to think badly of it. I'm just really happy with my care and meds right now. If the chemo takes away my appetite, I won't complain.:)

My cousin lost a bunch of weight on the medifast program. He says it worked for him, but doesn't push it as it uses a pyramid type $$ arrangement. But he doesn't mind not having the major health problems with the obesity gone! Snoring, diabetic (light), heart disease, etc. Gone.

I asked him how he lost the weight and he said "I didn't lose it, I threw it away!"

I'm down to 182, and have lost 58 pounds so far, {since August} just by eating less and exercising more. To start out I only counted calories two days a week, doing the 5-2 fasting diet like Sodamo is doing. But lately it has just become habit, and I do it every day. The good thing is it costs less money in groceries. But I have had to buy all 'new' clothes. New being a relative term, as most of them came from thrift stores. But I did buy my first two pair of new jeans today, size 34 waist, down from 40. So if someone as lazy as I am can do, anyone can.

That's awesome Larro. I'm back up to 212. Years ago I went from that down to 178 and my friends told me to stop losing weight. I never really had a "dunlop" or dikeydo gut, but just barrel chested.

Larro, I'm jealous. Yours and Kyle's weight stories bring back fond memories. When I took the physical to get on the police department in 1964, I weighed 178 pounds. I did go over 190 once but back down and when I took the physical to go to the FBI National Academy in 1986, I weighed 178 pounds again. For a lot of years I didn't bother getting measured for new uniforms; I just ordered 35 x 32 trousers.

And now today I'm up to 235.:mad: This city living is hard on your health.

I spent way to long being heavy. 25 years ago when I started eating Margie's cooking, I went from 185 to over 200 in just a few months. I stayed there until the week between Christmas and New Years. But Sodamo posting on What's For Supper??? was what got me started thinking about changing my lifestyle. Now I love eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise. As crazy as it always sounded to me, the more you exercise, the more energy you have.
