Yesterday was her second chemo treatment. She looks good even in the infusion center getting the chemo treatment.
She had an unbelievable appetite yesterday. I kept thinking that this isn't going to taste near as good tomorrow coming up as it does right now going down. Her first chemo the second day was as miserable as she's ever been.
This morning she ate the Cream of Wheat that I make every morning for her. Then she wolfed down some of my ham, ham cooked with jalopenas, onions, and mushrooms of course. About two this afternoon I smelled something and checked on her and she was eating a microwave concoction like she hadn't eaten in weeks. The appetite was still going strong this evening. She's going as strong as she ever has since the surgery.
The releasing (hair falling out) started this weekend. This morning I got out the beard trimmer and cut what was left down to about 3/4". We heard that if you cut it too short it will irritate when the head hits the pillow. That was about an intimate moment as one can have with a spouse after childbirth I do believe.
We have two more chemo treatments, last one 18th of January. Then it goes to once a week for 12 weeks. Herceptin will be added to the mix when that starts. After twelve weeks the Herceptin dose will be every three weeks for a total of a year's treatment. In January there will be a decision made about radiation treatments because lymph nodes were involved.
We were hoping to have the chemo etc behind us by next spring so we could travel out west. But it looks like right now we are tied to North Texas until January 2017 for treatments. A storm wiped out the awning on the fifth wheel. We've decided to put it on the market because we believe the fifth wheel will be difficult for her to navigate immediately after treatments. We look to purchase a motorhome at that time for travel.
In Nam we got around in town in cyclos or pedicabs. It's basically a bicycle with a chair for a passenger up front. I'm seriously thinking about an attempt to make one for us. She needs exercise and progress has blessed our neighborhood with three to four miles of great walking/cycling paths. She can ride when she wants up front and walk beside me when she feels up to it. And we still get to share the great scenery and camaraderie with others on the paths. It will be a fun project and we all know how I feel about fun projects.
"Life is Good" has been my avatar for 15 years or so. Never has it been appreciated more than now. I understand that good days like today and yesterday aren't going to be here always so they are really appreciated.
Thanks for the good wishes and prayers. Your friendship is an ointment that can't be replaced.
