What RPM were you running it at when you went to engage. on my 2710 I will slow the rpm's down before clutching in and engaging. If I don't I get a little grind noise. Not sure if the mid and the rear are supposed to work at the same time. Good question.

Unsure, we tried several RPMs... The selector had 3 positions and the pictures indicated mid, rear, and mid + rear.

My BX 2230 will engage both front & rear PTO at the same time no problem. I guess if you have two attachments to run at the same time... deck & yard vac ?... you can.

There is a lever to engage the pto, there is a lever to determine which pto to engage. This lever has 3 positions. In the middle you get both pto's, for a mower and grass catcher, for example. Are you trying to shift that lever while it is already running?????

If it works on either end for each pto independently, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work to do both of them at the same time. Set the lever and engage. Shouldn't be any grinding unless you are too far one way or the other.

PTO must be stopped when shifting between mid and rear. If they do not line up sometimes you will have to engage for a second to try a new spot if the implement shafts do not turn easy to get the gears lined up.

The tractor was running, the PTO was in the off position. We selected mid, then rear, then tried mid and rear. All it did was grind when I tried to engage the PTO after setting the selector. It has positive feeling stops for each position. I tried wiggling etc... but neither the owner or myself could get the mid + rear to work.

Are you planning on using both PTO's simultaneously? If not, it won't be a deal breaker. The price sounds very good.

Sounds like a great deal to me. I'd buy it if it was local to me. :)

I've never used both PTOs at the same time on either of my BXs but will try it later today.

As others have said, in the center position both the mid and rear PTO should run together. For me, I use this position for mowing and running the rear bagger attachment at the same time. I've read where others will mow and run a spreader attachment together.

As Ray said, it seems there is not a problem with either PTO if they are working fine independently. Almost seems like there is some sort of linkage adjustment issue or something, where when set in the middle one shaft is fully engaged but the other is not, so just grinding on the very end of the spline or something.

I wonder if one of the mechanics at your local Kubota dealer could give you some insight. May be worth a call.

After checking the engine like you did then I would check the hyd. fan to make sure it's not broke.

Not sure what you are suggesting, could you explain a bit more please?
