Not the same at all. The logs wouldn't be on the OP's property, the neighbor's light is. You either believe in property rights or you don't--log or lights makes no difference.
That's funny, near our house in NH all the light factories are locals!. I've noticed that people that move to the country from the city, where they are used to street lights, want to light up the area all night. I prefer motion lights that are only on as needed. Seems weird the town guy doesn't want them shaded on your side.
