This had nothing to do with how your were dressed. Salesman deal with credit EVERY DAY and it is true that a small percentage of people qualify for the best rate. The odds were in his favor by saying this. I don't take that line personal because I know that I am in the minority when it comes to credit. I always enjoy when the guy goes to run the credit check and then comes back to compliment me on my excellent rating.
A few years back when I still financed my automobiles, the guy said, "I'm going to run a credit check on you, so why don't you guys go out to eat and come back and we should have an answer." We said, "fine", and as we were getting into our car, the sales guy came running out and said, "You've already been approved!" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
