Access to top of piston

If you remove the injector on a 2 cylinder diesel, should you be able to look at the top of the piston with a bore scope? Or does the injector not go right into the cylinder.

I think it depends if this this on a direct or an indirect injection engine?

If it has glow plugs and scope is smaller than glow plug might get a look there

If it has a pre-combustion chamber, you will not be able to see the piston.
