Can anyone suggest any "ad blocking software" I can get to stop the increasing number of ads and pop-ups that are on the general internet sites? TBN is under control but some of the news sites are getting really burdensome.

I use the Chrome browser with the AdBlock extension.
Seems to work good. Right now it says it's blocked 450 adds since I opened the browser a few days ago.

I give them a donation whenever I add the extension to a new computer. Works so well it seems like the least I could do.

If you're not using Firefox...I highly recommend it...along with all the plug in applications (like 'Ad Block') that free the user of anything intrusive etc...

Be aware there are an increasing number of sites such as Forbes and Intellicast that either detect your ad blocking or just don't work fully with it running.

I have two computers. One I used Firefox and the other IE. After 6 months of trying to get rid of ads on both computers I switched both to Chrome with Adblock. It was and is like a breath of fresh air.
I still have a pop up now and then depending on the site but nothing even close to before and I have been on it for a couple years already.

I've been thinking about adding it for a while now... especially annoying for watching a YouTube video and a BLARING commercial starts!!!

So, on your recommendation (yep, you're in the hot-seat now, Mate) I've downloaded it for my Google Chrome. I even threw them $20 as, if I don't like it, I can get a refund. And BAM, it was done!

Crickey, accessing websites has sped up incredibly.

FWIW...Chrome is nothing but an extension of Google which is nothing but an information accumulating company...Nothing...and I mean nothing that Google provides "for free" is really free...!!
Even with the plug-in/add on software apps that go with (like their ad block) it is really using the user rather than the other way around...IMO it's not truly "open source"...

If you like chrome there are much less intrusive alternatives that perform as well or better...

Google is NOT your friend...!!!

There is a free app called Pop Up Stopper that works quite well. I used to use it before I went to a Mac.

OKaaaaay. :confused3:

I'm but a simple 'man of the land' who has applied AdBlock and now no longer is plagued by targeted advertisement.

Works for me, so far. If not I can remove it.

Firefox with AdBlock Plus works just fine for me.
