Ad blocking software

I have AdBlock Plus on both Safari & Firefox. Its been a significant help.

I recently 'upgraded' from Adblock Plus to something Mozilla suggested, uBlock Origin. Wikipedia description. It doesn't allow companies to buy exceptions like they do with Adblock.

Firefox here. The Wikipedia article says there are also versions for some other browsers.

It seems to work as claimed. I can't stand the dancing mortgages etc that appear without an adblocker.

Another vote for AdBlock Plus. Use it for both Chrome and Firefox.

I've been thinking about adding it for a while now... especially annoying for watching a YouTube video and a BLARING commercial starts!!!

So, on your recommendation (yep, you're in the hot-seat now, Mate) I've downloaded it for my Google Chrome. I even threw them $20 as, if I don't like it, I can get a refund. And BAM, it was done!

Crickey, accessing websites has sped up incredibly.

Well, I don't know that you'll rid yourself of YouTube ads, but everything else is good to go.
As others have mentioned, there are some sights that will not let you access their content if you have an ad blocker installed.
They are starting to get wise to this phenomenon of people not liking all of the ads.

IIRC it was somebody here that mentioned AB+ & Ghostery. Easy install Vista Firefox. All ten thumbs up! That said, thanks for another one to check out.

I haven't seen a banner or popup in months. Ghostery icon on search bar shows # of ads blocked. (Xfinity home page: 18) (Somehow, Natchez Shooter's supply emails are literally blank pages under the masthead.) Not sure which program is doing more, but the combo seems compatible and no program conflicts online or offline. Nothing is really inaccessible or is it difficult to express a 'blocker-bypass' option if needed. Think I'll try uBlock on W7.

btw: I'd like to extend a big LIKE! to the OP for choosing a meaningful title for this thread, for the sake of searching the topic 'in future'. tog
