Thanks Kenny. One thing I learned though........... might as well just buy a QA plate from someplace like Skid Steer Express next time. At about $130 shipped to my door, I didn't save anything making my own. I guess I wouldn't have had as much fun though .

Now............ I need a grapple !! :D

Yeah, unfortunately its hard to save any money anymore making stuff yourself with the price of materials...but it's still fun and I get a great felling being able to say "I did that!"

Melissa at Makham will be happy to take your $1000 and sell you a grapple antime your ready...but you know that already;)

You are spending a lot of time on tedious chores for that bucket, but it looks terrific. You are gonna love it. Nice work!:)

Looks great. I did the same thing to my tractor. I found the hardest part was just figuring it all out. Once I got a clue, it was just cutting and welding.

I like the holes you drilled, they look cool. It's more work then I want to tackle, but I still like the look of it. Rob did something similar on Loretta's grapple.

What I really like is your universal whatever it's called for picking up logs, adding a boom pole and trailer hitch. I've seen them for 3 point hitches, but that's the first time I've seen one for a QA on a loader. I'm gonna have to do some thinking on that and decide if it's another project for my list of things to do.

Any plans for a grapple? The reason I changed my tractor over to a QA system was to be able to switch from a dedicated grapple. While the thumb and other grapple attachments for a bucket look really useful, I think a dedicated one is worth the extra effort and expense. At least for me it is. With you QA, you have opened up yourself to all sorts of attachments. Forks are really handy too!!!!

Congrats on a job well done.

Eddie

Its actually just an eight foot piece of tubing I'm going to use to make a couple different attachments. I wanted to see how much reach it would give me.......... but I'm thinking if I left it that long I'll end up flopping my tractor on its side with it. My plan at this point is to make something around four feet to be able to reach into my truck or trailer.

That being said, I'm always open to good advice !

Ductape, The advise that I was going to give is that if you are installing a 2 in receiver, on the bucket, also add a 6 in high x 2 in vertical extension on the top of that with a weld on chain hook on the top. On the end of the boom, also weld a weld-on chain hook on the top, and a large half ring on the bottom. This will also give you an extra chain hook in the center of your bucket. These two chain hooks, and a chain between them will let you pick up a load without bending the boom or receiver, Easy to put on, and easy to take off. You could also weld more hanging points under the boom for different weights. The closer in you lift, the more weight you can lift. Did you notice all the other accessories someone else had in his bucket, hooks, 2 in ball. ring. etc. You could even go longer on the boom if you use the same guidelines

On the yellow boom pole, the red bracket can be locked on anywhere on the boom. You will still need a chain for tension.

Your local Bobcat dealer should have those plates in stock, the solid ones, and the ones with the open center, about $125.

I really like that boom pole with the sliding hook.

I'll check with the Bobcat dealer in my area........ thanks. I did check with my local Kubota / New Holland dealer, and they got $250 for their weld on QA plates.
