Hm.. I am not exactly the worlds best welder, but I don't think that was a very good weld to begin with..Um. I believe I could do better. of course if it had held, it would not have helped the bending of the main angle beam. Looks like your tractor had some good traction!

Yea the weld had no penetration, I would have brought it back to the seller. The angle iron bent because the support plate failed. That is a manufacturing defect.

Wow that sucks, That was the wrong weld to let go. What did you hook with it & how big is your tractor

I have a Kubota L3130 (32HP HST). I hit a rock and it did not stop my tractor. I was only going 1-2 MPH.

Well if it was mine (and I couldn't get my money back or a replacement) I would get out the torch, anvil and 2 lb hammer, and start heating and beating, grind and weld that nasty looking excuse for a weld, and repaint in some pleasing color.. and oh, I would not worry about over-painting the brand name either. That is what I would do.

I've used my subsoiler to pull some PEX out to the garden for watering. Way easier than digging a trench and filling it back in.
One trick I found was if you are pulling PEX or something small, dig a hole and lower the subsoiler down in the hole to start your pull. Also if you take the point off, it will disturb less ground. Pull your stuff thru then ran back over the slit with your tractor and in a week or so you'll have trouble seeing what you messed up.

I have a General Implements middle buster/subsoiler/trailer mover and it is one tough attachment. My dad's 3720 gets it about 3-4" off the ground with the top link shortened all the way and it mounted on the bottom hole on the tractor. I really like the ability to simply unbolt the tooth and be able to pull trailers around, that comes in handy quite a bit. I have dug ditches with mine and it does a pretty good job, watch out for rocks though! Mine is built so heavy that it just stops the 3720 in its tracks and i have to pick it up and move so i can pull it again. :confused2:

That looks like the unit I saw at a local dealer that has a shear bolt. It was $200 which is slightly higher than the not protected ones sold at TSC and KK.

I think you'd need something with tracks on it to pull one of those around here.

I picked up a (16"?) middle buster blade that I swap out for trenching and tater duty. The angle is too shallow, so I put a spacer between blade and the rear bolt hole to lift the blade angle up. This worked really well for performance, but beat up the bolt. Need to work out a better angled bolting solution for that application.

This bent up the plow bolt after a fairly short amount of time (maybe 2 hrs of use), so I think I need to make a wedge shaped adaptor that bolts directly to the furrower with a second set of bolts to secure that assembly to the Sub Soiler. Or maybe weld an adaptor to the underside of the furrower.
