I bit the bullet and used Kubota's SUDT. The first 50 hour change sure came soon... but the next normal changes are far apart and probably will take me a while to to get there, so I will stick to SUDT.

If I found myself hitting the fluid changes quickly, I would probably investigate other options. I have however read about "equivalents" not really working out well and being replaced with SUDT again.

If I was making money with my tractor I would just factor in the cost to my rates.

For me, I go with OEM. It provides me a little peace of mind and lets me worry about other things.

Since my tractor took 16 gallons of hydraulic fluid, I didn't want to experiment with other fluids. If the equivalent didn't work out well, 16 gallons is a lot to replace.

I sure know what you mean and need to do some research.

We went with another brand when we lost about 30 gallons in our Case in a couple of weeks. The Case dealer said we needed to use Case products and one of my local dealers who handles Case as well as Kubotas uses Case fluids in Kubotas, but the cost was killing us. My father in law was in the lubricant business all of his adult life and used the brand he sold in everything.

I don't know why I am so reluctant to use it in my Kubotas, but I am. With three Kubotas, the costs will sure add up.

Ah.... I understand better now.

I use 75W-90 in my front axle, just because I think it has the strength to take my frequent 4x4 use.

I saw the 85w-140 and thought, "Wow" "Molasses in January" indeed, but I see you have a leak to deal with later on. :D

I probably didn't help things. When I saw your comment, I thought you were questioning the use of gear lube in the front axle instead of hydraulic fluid. Now that I see your last comment, I see you were questioning the weight.

Jay4200,

Didn't mean to make you feel guilty....It always seems to me when you buy something new there is always a need to keep them new....although they all seem to get old like the rest of us....

If you need a place to get rid of that waste oil I'll gladly take it if you are in the Hooksett area....We're always looking for more.......
