Amazon, and other online retailers have been a godsend for us rural folk. Even paying for fast shipping, prices are often cheaper than brick & mortar stores, assuming you can find one that has what you need. Then there's the cost of gas and your time to consider.
So far this month, I've placed 52 online orders for projects I've got going, and most are from Amazon. Sure, there are fake reviews to deal with, but most can be verified with a few Google searches. Amazon's liberal return policy makes the process that much more convenient. Of the 52 orders I placed this month, 2 have been returned at no cost. Replacements or refunds are very fast.
I average over 500 Amazon orders per year and have a Prime membership. At $136/year, I'm well ahead on shipping costs. There are other Prime benefits I use as well. In addition to their TV movies, I'm looking forward to their 10 cent/gal gas discount at BP and some other stations.
I'm sure others feel differently, but to me, where I live, Amazon has been a real time and money saver.
