Would you please edit your post and delete the last section? I would really appreciate it.
I'm posting all these questions to get different opinions and help me understand how things work, how they go together, and what I need to make them work.
I really appreciate everyones input.
That being said, I do like the idea of a detent valve to run the splitter but don't like the idea of a bungee cord, it sounds sorta halfassed doing it that way.
If I could buy just the detent kit to add to one of my existing spools then I would really be interested in that? Any idea if that is an option or would I need to buy a 5th spool? I'd rather not spend the money on a 5th spool right now because I need to put some cash towards hoses and fittings.
Just to clarify, all my QD fittings should be the female type right?
On the QD fittings, you should have male and female sets on the work ports to make sure the attachments connect up correctly. I believe it is usual for the male QD to be the source of the fluid, from the valve. This way, if you set up your attachments , you will always be correct.
Yes, the 3 position detent is another spool.
A good many if the 3pt log splitters use the bungee to pass fluid to operate the log splitter.
You can make your 4 spool valve a plug in valve, with QD's, but to use a log splitter , you have to unplug the 4 spool valve, and then plug in the log splitter hoses, matching male to female QD to make sure the flow is connect.
The ideal way is the 3 pos detent spool, which the log splitter and BH could use. no bungee required.
My ideal 4 spool valve would be two spools with float, one spool with 3 pos detent, and a motor spool for those motorized attachments.
