having just purchased a 310c i to am looking how to get some auxiliary hydraulics on it for a thumb/tree shear/grabber type attachment. i have an electric foot switch and hydraulic quick disconnects on the boom but nothing seems to do anything, there is a valve type thing under the machine that has a sylinoid on it that clicks when i activate the electric foot switch but can not seem to get any hydraulic flow or pressure from the fittings. thanks for any response/help
On mine - a 310SG - there is a rocker switch on the instrument panel that has to be positioned to activate the auxillary hydraulic flow. It also has the foot switch and hydraulic quick disconnects on the boom.
Your aux hydraulics will either be one-way or two-way type. Mine was One-way type for things like a breaker or drill. Two-way is what is required to operate a thumb or anything that goes both ways.
Converting a one way to a two way requires adding an extra valve to the valve stack and of course longer bolts. It's about a two day job. At our local JD shop they told me that is about $3000 plus the cost of the valve. Then welding on a thumb is about that much more again.
I found out this stuff because I was curious about putting a thumb on the used 310SG we own. Knew nothing about the history of the tractor, so I went to the local JD industrial shop and talked to the shop foreman. From the serial number he pulled up a complete history of my machine from the way it was configured when sold and including all service done while under warranty. Even made me a copy. I wonder if you could have him do that for yours?
