Was out playing on the tractor last night, basically to see if the headlights worked very well. I think a few extra lights wouldnt hurt. Has anyone added lights to their tractor? I think on top of the ROPS would be the best place. You never know when you may want to cut the grass at midnight.
Thanks

There are tons of posts on this exact subject... Magnetic lights to place where you need, simple L brackets on the rops ususally on the inside to keep from ripping them off, some on the top of the bucket and lots pointing backwards. Then there is the charging issue, are your lights going to overpower your system.
Personally I am running a 35w rear light and decided a couple of days ago rops wont work because of the trees, branches getting caught on the inside and tearing up the trees. I am back to putting mine on the loard arms but not to worried about that yet many other projects ahead

When adding lights keep in mind that your tractor's charging dynamo is only 14.5 amps. If your total electrical draw from lights, etc. exceeds 14.5 amps then you will be constantly discharging your battery. A 55w light draws approximately 4.58 amps.

You can always upgrade your dynamo to an 40+ amp alternator if you want the extra charging power for your light array.

As you will discover in other threads talking about that subject: be careful, if you've never changed the alternator (dynamo 14.5 amps) you can get into trouble by adding to many lights. I strongly recommend an upgrade kit (40 amps alternator). That way you'll have plenty of juice to light up your tractor as a Christmas tree /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif . I mean to get a set of four 55W halogen lights (2 front, 2 rear).

BTW, is it better for the grass to cut it at midnight? just kidding! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif , have fun.

Thanks for the help. I think a set for the front and the rear would be the right setup. Some weeks after a set of midnights I just cant sleep, this warm weather just begs me to be outside. I dont really have any close neighbors, so I dont worry about keeping anyone awake.

HOLY CRAPOLA! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
That's is one HECK of a light project you have there Mike!

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to just replace a light now and then as they got broken? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm suffering from light envy /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Mike_C,
You're my hero!!!
Love the cages on your speakers.
I got an upgraded alternator from the start so I could install lights like yours.
Nice web page, thanks for the share.

Mike, I'm sure you're the most "enlightened" man on TBN. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
