Adding SCV to beyond beyond on JD 3038e

I would like to add a true 3rd function to my loader on my John Deere 3038e to power a grapple. http://https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2009100416391860&item=9-6136&catname=hydraulic This is the valve I would like to use alond with the correct open center subplate. My question is will it work? My loader joystick has 7 ports with 4 work ports. On the joystick would I bring the PB line to the "P" port of my 3rd function valve, out of the "T" side back to the PB? Is that correct or do I need another type of 3rd function valve? Anyone have a elementary schematic on the proper way to plumb a valve in after a PB valve?

For a basic schematic, look HERE. The only difference is you will not have a PB port on the subplate-just a IN and OUT.

So the PB port on the loader valve goes to the IN on the subplate, and the OUT goes to wherever the PB from the loader went. You are just putting the subplate in series on that PB line.

SurplusCenter has a new directional control valve available. It is based on the 9-5117, and the part number is 9-5117-A. The difference is that the new model requires no electricity to select one circuit, and power to both solenoids to select the other circuit. I like the idea of having the FEL curl on a normally open circuit just incase of a solenoid failure.

The 5117-A is NOT a "directional control valve", it is a "diverter" valve. He wants to add a true 3rd function to his loader.

I don't want to hi-jack a thread, but help me out here kennyd. Will the 9-5117-A valve work (along with the appropriate electrical switch) to divert the FEL bucket kurl function to operate a grapple? That is probable not a true third function.

This is what I am looking to do at some point in the future and don't need to make too many mistakes.

Yes, it is designed to "divert" fluid from one circuit to another. You only have control (through a directional control valve-like the loader joystick) of one circuit at a time. It is operated by a simple ON-OFF switch (usually momentary).

The "true 3rd function" is completely independent and can operate a cylinder(s) all by itself through the use of a 3 position switch ON-OFF-ON

Why did you hate that?
I like the WR Long products-they offer a good deal when you consider all they come with in one box. It's hard to beat the price when you start pricing all the parts individually. Plus it's a huge timesaver not having to source all the parts.

Please post some pictures-I have not seen the solenoid valve setup on the new E-series yet.

You would not have saved much believe it or not...

After buying the valve, subplate, hoses, QD's, fittings, new joystick handle...then you would have to fab up all the mounts...
