With both the "B" and "C" series Toolcats you can disable the 2-speed, Hi-Flow (if equipped) and axle matching using the SPEED/HOURS/RPM button. The procedure to do this is listed in the Operators Manual under the "Display Controller Panel" section.

I'm curious if anyone has disabled the axle matching for any length of time, and if so, did you notice any difference in the performance of the Toolcat?

Axle-Matching: When enabled, will detect when one axle is turning and the other is not; and will stop the turning axle and transfer power to the other axle.

I haven't experimented with disabling this feature yet. So, under what conditions might you want to have axle-matching disabled?

And would you want Rear Differential Lock engaged at the same time?

Brian- I don't have a clue as to why anyone would want to disable it......... But the option IS there, so I figured someone would have tried it by now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It was shown to me as an answer to anyone saying that the Toolcat "can't have that much power if it won't even spin the tires".

Honestly, under what kind of circumstances would you want to be able to spin the tires?

And would you want Rear Differential Lock engaged at the same time?

And again, I don't know what would happen. The only Toolcat I can put hours on is in our rental fleet, and sadly, is an "A" series. You can bet I will be experimenting with the next "C" series that comes in the yard. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My best guess for when one might want/need to disable this function would be when you apply maximum down pressure to an attachment such as bucket, plow blade, etc such that the front axle is off the ground. This is common with skid steers although not common with CUTs.

With the feature enabled, the machine would not move. Disabled the TC would continue to move forward or back powered by just the rear axle.

You would probably want/need to lock the rear differential to get maximum power, and you would effectivly have no steering (unlike a skid steer) but still could go straight forward or back on level ground.

Perhaps not needed often, but could come in handy once in a while.

That sounds about right, Rip. I've had my front axles and tires in the air when applying maximum down pressure, but so far been I've able to move the lift arm w/attachment to get back on the ground on all fours (before again needing/wanting forward or backward drive motion). The ability to disable axle-matching gives you one more option in tough situations. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I am confused by all of this!
First off, I have spun my tires many a times.
Second I have my front tires off the ground all the time back dragging driveways!
Is there some mode I am sopposed to be in when doing this?

Axle matching does not eliminate tire spinning, but does reduce it significantly (especially when all four tires are on the ground). Axle matching still allows movement when the front tires and axles are in the air, like at times when you are back dragging, until certain points.

But it is confusing since there is no icon indicator display light to confirm the enabled/disabled status of axle matching. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif And you can only go into or out of axle matching when the engine is stopped and you toggle through the SPEED / HOURS/ RPM button, then hold and get to the "Additional Menu Functions" level, and then see a cryptic display on the LCD (unlike other displays that have clear meaning!) at which point you can toggle another button (WORK) to enable or disable axle matching. I need to do some more activity in various conditions when I am certain axle matching is either enabled or disabled before trying to give a better explanation! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
