Hello,

Lately I have heard a lite clicking coming from the rear of my tractor (4200). Found it was the rear PTO partially engaging. If I press down on the yellow PTO lever I can get the noise to stop. The PTO shaft does spin while the tractor is running without a load. With the brush hog on it mostly stops the movement.

Is there an adjustment knob or screw for this. It seems like it just need to turn it back a bit.

Thanks in advance.

Brandon,

I'm not familiar with your model tractor, but, on the ones I've had with a mechanical PTO lever, there was always some adjustment on the linkage. See if you can trace it out, and see if there isn't a threaded connecter on either end, that you can adjust.
Usually, the circulation of the oil inside the tranny will make the PTO shaft turn if there is no load on it. If it is moving while not engaged and you have a load of any kind on it, you need to have it checked, it may not be releasing completely, and could result in accelarated wear, as well as being dangerous.
I'm sure someone familiar with your model will eventually chime in. You could also call the service manager at your dealer. They have always tried their best to answer my questions, even the ones that they have to put the phone down first cause their laughing.

Good luck,

DT
